Sonisphere have confirmed that there will be a festival taking place at Knebworth next summer, but exactly what kind of festival that is is still uncertain.

“Keep the 4th-6th July 2014 free!” the official festival Twitter has noted. “Planning a festival to celebrate 40 years of Rock Music at Knebworth #Sonisphere”

A quick look at the Sonisphere website confirms that there is indeed a big event taking place, though curiously it doesn’t seem to be labelled under the Sonisphere banner.

So, will we see Sonisphere make its official returning after being cancelled last year and no-showing this year, or is this going to be a whole new event? We’ll just have to wait and see…

I don't think this is being run as a Sonisphere Festival, so hopefully it will happen!!!

This was reported in the local newspaper earlier this year..... Knebworth looking to rock again for 40th anniversary

I've seen them a couple of times. They supported The Union in Bristol last night too.

Really, really, good night. The Union were on top form!!
Lucky bastard. Bands like those rarely come over here

As I only live 30 miles north of Bristol they are a "local" band, so I have a bit of an advantage over you for this one.

What about Paradise Lost and Nightwish?
I consider those 2 bands to be top of their game.
I've seen PL many times.

I forgot Nightwish!!

Not a great Paradise Lost fan I must admit, I saw them in Wolverhampton a few weeks ago but went more to see Lacuna Coil and Katatonia who supported them.

I would add Katatonia to the list as well, ONeillDigSpy.

Welcome, the more the merrier and more diverse

Had to look up that band but they aren't really my thing. I come down more on the classic hard rock/stoner/doom side of things

Must admit they're on the lighter side of my music taste. I like NIN too. But their earlier stuff, not their new album!

I really like their song Video Kid. Can't think that I've heard anything else of theirs though.

I could never get into NIN. For some reason, their music grates on me.

I like a few songs, but mostly they sound empty and soulless, not sure if that is the intention of industrial stuff

Excellent description. Yes, that's how I feel about them too.

I have that compilation too. I love to play it in the car and belt out the old power ballads as I drive.

Every time I think of you, I always catch my breath, And I'm still standing here and you're miles away, And I'm wondering why you left

Pity about the Whitesnake radio edit though

Not noticed a radio edit yet, which one?

when I was about 13 I bought Whitesnake 1984, and I played it at school, god you had thought I had played the heaviest most tuneless music ever made the way people reacted, looking back Slayer and Metallica were out then (but I hadn't heard of them) if I had played them we could have had real trouble

Here I go Again 87 is always the radio edit version on those compilations. I have a serious dislike of radio edits

I love the Whitesnake 84 and back era. Coverdale's voice was in it's prime and the Moody/Marsden combo was the best around.
