Obviously

I'm still not keen on Slayer's recorded stuff but when I watch videos of their live performances, it suddenly all makes sense

Today is a very important anniversary.

Yes, it was 30 years ago today that I attended my first gig.

It was the 29th November 1983, and it was Slade.
A bunch of us from school went. A ticket cost £3.80 and a t-shirt was £5.

I've been to hundreds of gigs since then, but this still ranks as one of the best gigs I've ever been to.
They were on a real comeback in the early 80s and produced some of their heaviest, raucous material during this period.
Suffice to say, hearing it live was an epiphany. They kicked serious arse.

Ideally, you should all own this album.
The live version of Lock Up Your Daughters should be blasted out every single day.

Oh and Noddy Holder should be knighted.

Iron Maiden have never been exactly fashionable: too mainstream for punk, too scruffy for New Wave, too hairy and loud for pop. But it seems the classic British metal act is very good at turning metal into gold.

In a report published on Friday by the London Stock Exchange, the group – formed in Leyton, east London in the 1970s – has been cited as one of the UK's fastest growing music firms, helping to pull the UK from economic heart failure into recovery.

I was thinking more of albums released this year

2013 has been a great year for music for me, it could be a challenge to narrow it to a top 5.

My preliminary top 5

Trucker Diablo - Songs of Iron
Tom Kiefer - The Way Life Goes
Black Spiders - This Savage Land
Baleful Creed - Baleful Creed
BlackWolf - The Hunt

There have also been quality offerings from Snakecharmer, Scorpion Child, Leogun and others.

And that's only considering hard/heavy rock. Blues and Jazz have both seen good releases this year.

I have no idea. Maybe someone posted a while back saying they liked them & I then asked for a link. I really can't remember. You're right, not my thing.

I wouldn't even think they belong on this thread tbh.

VersaEmerge have changed their name to just Versa after leaving the 'fueled by ramen' label. They also have an EP coming out soon titled 'Neon EP.' No idea where the band stands on the upcoming album which was already due to be released.
