Am currently loving this live version of Ashes To Ashes by Faith No More. The fact Mike looks delicious is merely a bonus. :P

And this really grainy footage of NIN playing in a tiny venue is quite possibly my fave live footage ever. I would have loved to have been there, so much energy- from band and audience. Lucky buggers!”

Swedish Penguins

Watching Ashes to Ashes now. It's all good. Such a shame he got electrocuted mid song though. Poor lamb

Music & vocals 8/10 - performance 3/10 (I prefer front men who connect with their audience)

Music's a bit 'soft rock' for me but yes, he's very good, isn't he? Really connects with the audience, despite being chained to a guitar (I tend to prefer 'free range' front men). Look at how far forward he's standing too. Yes, he's a good 'un

Floyd, for me, are better to listen to than to watch.

Here's a couple from my teenage years.

Iggy Pop - The Passenger - Manchester 1977. Lust For Life I saw him on this tour at Newcastle

And here's one I wish I'd been at. Alas it was before my time & in another country The Stooges - TV Eye & 1970

Crowd surfing is fir sissies. Iggy crowd walks

Sounds impressive. What was the background to that?

Somewhat unfortunate to see this in the sidebar after listening to that though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyD-3sHSHig I think he was just joking though

The idea for posting live songs had me a bit stumped because I never really watch live performances on youtube. lol

Though I think the Marilyn Manson song that is the most effective live is 'Antichrist Superstar'.
The menacing power of the music really represents the song's intent.

Also you can't go wrong with 'The Beautiful People' accompanied by a bit of trumpet.

Those are probably my favourite 2 live MM performances, both from about 15 years ago. How time flies.

Corey Taylor was brilliant when he was a broke, pissed off front man. Now he tries to be all trendy and he's really lost his edge. All in my opinion, anyway.

I saw Slayer a couple of years ago in Leeds and Tom Araya got the lyrics completely wrong on Angel of Death. Dave Lombardo was back on drums though, so all is forgiven.

To be fair, I think forgetting words happens to most of them at one time or another. Touring can be very tiring. Maybe he was doing improv, rather than 'getting them wrong'

Are you going to post any live stuff then? Is it time for Halestorm to move up to maybe 1,000/2,000 capacity venues?”

Halestorm - Live in Philadelphia
Halestorm - Live In Cologne 2012

I think their next tour will be Academy sized venues.

Listening to the Philadelphia one now. Wow, she's got some voice, hasn't she?

I hope they do Academy gigs next time. It means I might get the chance to see them. We miss out on some bands here because we don't really have anything sizewise between pubs & the Academy.

Enjoying this

ETA- 20 mins in & I'm finding her stage persona a little grating. She comes over a bit....I don't know how to put this.....Hannah Montana? Also I'm finding myself doubting her sincerity when she talks to the audience. Sounds amazing though - this from someone who prefers male vocals.

I think the drum solo is to give Lzzy a break, as they don't have any instrumentals and usually they are only a couple of minutes long, so not too bad.

I know what you mean about her stage persona, I put that down to age and inexperience, although my impression on Sunday is that she seems to have been working on it as she came across very well.

I'd put it down to age & experience too but I've been reading up on them. She's 28 & they've been doing this since she was 16. I thought they were youngsters

So yeah, I'm not sure now whether I'd want to see them live. As the hour wore on I found her 'rock by numbers' platitudes increasingly annoying. Which is a shame.

As I say, last Sunday she seemed much more natural and relaxed and a 90 minute set for £12.00 plus two support bands wasn't bad at all!
