Original Stooges drummer, Scott Asheton has died, just over five years after his brother, Ron, in 2009. Gutted

Edguy used to be one of my favourite bands around the release of Mandrake/Hellfire Club in the early 2000's. I feel that their last few albums have gone downhill though and this new song doesn't really impress me either. I've heard good things about the rest of the album from a few music journalists on last.fm though so I'm holding out hope!

Found this article on a lunch-time browse, and feel it's only right to try and share out what's happening here in Northern Ireland (as opposed to the last 40 years of other news that made the headlines)

http://belfastmetal.hubpages.com/hub...-and-hard-rock

Some of the bands mentioned also feature in this live review of a recent charity event in Belfast. They are from different reviewers, so it's just not one man's thoughts:

I went to see The Answer last week. Fourth time now I think.

Splendid they were.

Second promo video for Sabaton's upcoming album, Heroes, with their new single To Hell and Back as background.

Good article that. I am really optimistic about the whole NI music scene at the moment (not just heavy metal and hard rock). There are some really good new acts starting out. If we add the other 3 counties of Ulster, we can also claim even more

Have a listen to this band from Derry

They are on the symphonic/gothic end of the spectrum and I really like them.

The new Metallica is under-par as usual. Anyone else like Death? The remastered versions of their albums sound amazing, i'm looking forward to the new version of "Leprosy"

Black Stone Cherry are doing a UK arena tour in October, supported by Theory Of A Deadman and Airbourse.

On first listen I was hugely disappointed with this album but after 5 more plays this is starting to grow on me a lot. I think at first I was thrown off by how different it is to what I was expecting from the singles and the samples.. X Marks The Spot is by far the worst song of their entire career though in my opinion, those spoken word parts ruin what could have been a great song.

I love Running Lights, WDYDITWD, Larger Than Life and Half A Marathon Man though!!

I know what you mean. After 'Wolves Die Young' and 'Cloud Factory', I was expecting something better tbh. The album's very patchy indeed & I'm actually rather disappointed.

Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Faith No More, Motorhead And More For Huge London Show - Hyde Park

Seems odd to have it clash with Sonisphere though.

Which is precisely why I'm not going, I've already got tickets to Sonisphere.

Considering Sonisphere announced their headliners and the date late last year it seems more than a little stupid for Hyde Park to have this the same weekend, as a considerable percentage of their target audience will alreadfy be going to Sonisphere.
