That's been my view as well.

Apparently Axl's denying the split

I saw them at Donnington in 1988, then Wembley Stadium in 1991 and 1992. Since then I've not bothered with them.
Well, that's not strictly true, I did buy Chinese Democracy, but I think I've only ever listened to it once.
Shame really.

Fellow rockers/metalheads!

I'd love it if you could check out my channel on YouTube with guitar covers - most recent one is 'Paradise City' by GNR - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LRTUJIvMcU

There's a little bit of everything on there though! Hope you like it!

Anyone going to any festivals this year?

I'm going to Download on the Friday to see Skindred, Within Temptation, Anathema, and Opeth.

Then the whole of Sonisphere.

Bach has always been a bell end with an over inflated ego.

Massively overrated too.

I read that Metal music may no longer be the rebellious music that it once was, especially in the UK. It's now the music of the affluent!

'Metal doesn't soundtrack alienation – it's the music of prosperity'

On the other hand it may be the music of the alienated amongst the prosperous!

I've just been to Bearded Theory, not metal but had the likes of PWEI, carter USM and Wonderstuff, bands from my teen years

In August we're going to Alt-fest which is a bit more like it, main / metal / goth / industrial and s.o.p.h.i.e stages. It sounds a bit ambitious to be honest for a first time festival but all the bands tick the boxes though, stuff like Combichrist, marylin Manson, killing joke, front 242, the damned, cradle of filth etc.

The singer nailed all the high notes, something very few beyond Glenn Hughes can manage.

Saw that reported by Classic Rock.

He really is doing all he can to destroy any credibility he has. Meanwhile Skid Row are far better without him.

A few barbs thrown towards Metalllicas way

http://loudwire.com/mogwai-take-shots-at-metallica/

Quote:
““I can’t wait to hear that guy [Lars Ulrich] play the drums again — unbelievably bad,” Mogwai multi-instrumentalist Barry Burns tells Gigwise. “He’s terrible.””

Quote:
“Singer Stuart Braitwaite adds, “I just can’t wait until we go all quiet and you can hear ‘Enter Sandman’ in the background, because we’re on at the same time. I don’t really see the fuss. They’re a pretty big rock band and it’s a pretty big rock festival. It would be good if they could go back in time to 1989. Metallica at Glastonbury in 1989.””

Quote:
“When Gigwise mentioned that Metallica’s booking has been seen as controversial by some, drummer Martin Bulloch responded, “Because they’re sh-te.””

Covering new ground then

So, to sum up...they're going to clash with Metallica & they're shitting themselves in case nobody turns up to watch them.

Now that is funny. Did you see iron maiden ruled themselves out of ever headlining there too?

Yup. That is exactly how i see it as well.

I have read thay have some "form" for this, though. apparently when Blur headlined the Pyramid Stage a few years ago and they were on the second stage they did exactly the same thing.

To me taking pot shots at the headline band on the main stage at a festival you are playing is more about the realisation that, as time goes by, you will never headline the main stage at a major festival.

I'm sure Maiden first said that back in 2010 or 2011. I'm not sure why it's being repeated now.

I guess they're probably just trying to drum up interest but I suspect you're correct.

Yes Sonisphere to see Iron Maiden also have plenty of tickets to see other bands though not at festivals.

Micheal Schenker at Nottingham and Norwich (December}.

Phil Campbells Allstar band (Motorhead).

Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) Norwich.
