If you mean the son who injured his leg, I think he's just playing the cheeky/laddish/Essex boy persona.

It said that they were "friends" when they were first introduced.

I have always assumed them to be a gay couple though. A lot of older gay men still refer to their partners as their 'friend', presumably because when they were young, being gay was looked down upon and illegal until 1967 when it was decriminalised. IIRC it was made legal in the 1990's.

Hence my comment that Brighton is not all that. Like all Towns there is good and bad bits about them ”

ah i see now! And i thought you were just picking on Brighton for the sake of it i am sorry Bellarosa

youre probably right in your previous post he was probably just playing up to the cameras like you quite rightly said a few of them do now

He's called other places $hitholes before, Chatham was one of them, now it's somewhere where a DS FM lives, it's supposed to be taken as a serious comment and review on the town.

It's some bloke watching TV and making on the fly comments, just because it relates to somewhere you know, don't start taking it seriously.

The couple with the boob pic - I thought I recognised the chap who sits on the left. He's Bill Hartston and he used to present TV programmes on chess in the 80's and 90's. His wikipedia entry says he's been married twice and has two kids.

Very clever chap!

That link has been posted before, whether he's gay or not seems to be important to some people, don't know why, hadn't even occurred to me.

I fear my post about Bill Hartston has been misunderstood.

I have read most of these pages - but not all 100 so apologies for missing the previous post with wikipedia link.

My post was not intended to debate Bill's sexuality, more to point to a reference that highlights his achievements and past TV appearances. Hence my comment that he is a clever chap.

Don't worry. I knew you meant that, and it was very observant of you to remember him.

It's just that people keep asking about them, I think in more of a sly dig, alluding to their sexuality, rather than an honest inquiry.
No problem with your post.

Why on earth should he be deemed to be 'playing up'?
People on here are obsessed with this topic.

I seem to remember he's an electrician or mechanic by trade, in his twenties, from Clacton.
How exactly do you expect him to behave?
Perhaps as soon as the cameras are off he whips out a napkin and says "Oh mother, that was sooo fatiguing, do be a dear and pass the camembert... oh and a water biscuit. You are an angelic".

George seems great, love how he tried to wind up his parents. He is like anyone in there 20s just having fun.
Not sure how he is playing up though, he seems himself.

Totally agree. Who the hell would know the fact of Columbus and the clitoris!!!

I think Bill & Josef should use up more gogglebox!

I'd love to be able to watch the episode that featured the Olympics.. oh I think that was the funniest! (where Dominic and wifes settee tipped up)

There is really no-one I dislike in the whole series (that I have seen so far, think I may have missed a few), that must be a first!

If George is 'playing up' it seems to be for his parents, given the way he looks at them.

It's just that he seems to be a walking stereotype & caricature of an "Essex Boi", like something that a comedian would do in a sketch.

I see what you mean but he seems very genuine as do his parents. He has a lovely relationship with them - I'd say the nicest and most respectful out of all the parent/child families on the programme, apart from the Siddiquis. George pokes fun and has good banter, especially with his mum.
Clichés/stereotypes wouldn't exist if there wasn't significant truth in them!

I bet if they had a Welsh family on, they wouldn't be a rural, socially conservative one, like mine. They'd be a rugby-loving family from the Rhondda valley, watching the tv in their red rugby tops. A stereotype yes, but there are people like that!
