Advice needed on avr's and speakers
We have decided on gettin an AVR and speaker system for the front room and need a bit of advice. Im not after spending fortunes chasing the perfect sound just something that will offer decent sound.
I am ok in selecting the AVR its the speaker system where we fall down. Currently were using the tv speakers so anything would be an improvement. I see a variety of options including 5.1 packages including sub woofer or buying a pair of bookshelf speaker and then adding speakers as time progresses. Would a pair of speakers such as the wharfedale diamond 9.1 be a decent starting point? Would i need a centre speaker now or could that be added later? Likewise for a sub woofer? Like i said i cant see the wood for the trees right now so any help is greatly appreciated.. |

Something like this would be a good starter, you can buy the receiver separate and add those speakers you liked at a later date. |

the tannoy sfx 5.1 was one on the list so thats good to know. Is that a better option than just starting with two wharfedale 9.1 speakers and adding to them over the next year or so? Id rather not buy something then start replacing it if you know what i mean? Id rather start with two and add to them if thats a better option.

The sound of the system will blow you away if you add a blu ray player to the amp.i think you should keep the tannoy speakers for now if you buy it and upgrade at a later date. There are other amps as good but for the price of the yammy and the speakers you cant go wrong in my opinion.

An alternative option might be to start off with something like this... http://www.richersounds.com/product/...y-htx22hdx-blk It has the amplifier built into the sub and starts off as a 2.1 system but can be easily upgraded to full 5.1 with the optional speaker pack. |
