Just seen it described as an iPhone running Android with a Windows Phone skin. I can sort of see what they mean!
Smart way to snatch users from Apple and windows phone perhaps.

It does actually look very nice.

I did love my HTC Desire but i think HTC went a bit off the rails after that.

Personally speaking as a former owner of multiple HTC phones, I wouldn't own one if it was given to me for free.

HTC promise so much but don't back it up with support or updates, not that the likes of Samsung are much better.

I'll stick with Googles Nexus range of devices, at least you know that your going to get updates in a timely fashion.

As a regular user of a Desire S, One S and a SG3, I'd say that HTC are streets ahead of Samsung in usability. IMO Sense is still the best skin available.

I've not tried a pure Nexus recently, but I'm willing to bet it isn't as "nice" as a HTC to use. I can't remember who first came up with the phrase, but everything just works!

MP Means nothing... Should produce better night time shots and less noise as it lets in 300 percent more light.

How often have you printed your phone pictures bigger than 12x8 inches?

A layperson hearing 4MP won't go near it.

They will when they see how good the pics look. Come most people been using 5mp phone cameras for a while now with no complaint. The mp race is pathetic. More mega pixels don't mean better looking pics. You can have 100mp and a shit lense and crap sensor and the end result will be.....crap. The real evolution of the camera is everything but mp to be honest. so I'm glad HTC are trying something out here.

Besides how often have you printed your phone camera shots??

I think the phone looks immense! Personally i think HTC have done a great job and i'm pretty much impressed. Although i do wonder what people will say when talking about the HTC One to their friends/colleagues and mention it only has a 4MP camera! Lol.

Three UK will offer it from Feb 22, Vodafone will have it from March 15 and it will be available on EE's 4G network from mid-March. Overall it's a cracking phone.

Cheers for all the links. Must say i wasn't expecting it to be available in 3 days....

This worries me as i really really really hope quality control is good and we don't have another Sensation/One X problem on our hands.

Looks a good phone for the price though. Again, only downsides for me is lack of removable battery + Micro SD but i do like the new hardware features and software looks good as well. Hopefully my work will offer this to me.

EDIT: just looked at the three website and it says march? You sure you don't mean pre orders from feb 22nd?

Does look good phone but I wonder how good it will look in a month or two ... shame they persist with this no sd card and no removable battery, and should have made the screen a little bigger think it will look small soon.

They've been going on (and on) about the camera. But from the samples, it really isn't anything special. I wouldn't choose it over the 4S or SGS3.

The 808 absolutely leaves it for dead in the camera department.

I think you're right. I don't think it will be available this month, so it's most likely to be pre-order.

I don't think they're going 'on and on' about the camera. I just think they're saying it's something new and different and why shouldn't they mention it because it is.

More info about availability here from all the UK networks. Fri March 15 seems to be the date of release which is just 3 weeks away.

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/4994...pricing-launch

Amazon UK have it on pre-order for a whopping £684.97 (which i think may be for the 64GB variant) but i expect price that to decrease significantly come release date which they also have down as March 15th.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/HTC-One-SIM-...1322161&sr=8-2

Clove have the handset on their website at £510 for the 32GB model with the same release date - http://www.clove.co.uk/htc-one

I'm torn between keeping the Nexus 4 or flogging it and getting The One. I'll wait a little bit, see what the reviews are like.

Seems people are already slating some of the sample pics from the Camera, expecting to see DSLR like quality. People need to keep in mind it's a phone camera, in a very compact shell, a small sensor and small lens. If it can take shots spmewhere close to the Lumia 920 then it's a great camera.

We'll see as more samples become available. I know HTC have made a bit of noise about the camera. But it's bound to be an improvement on my Nexus 4 cam, cos I took it out last weekend and took a few pics, not impressed at all really. Although the 360 panorama stuff was cool.

Not keen on HTC Blinkfeed and the fact it is the focus of most reviews so far, it's been said it can't be removed, which puts me off as I wouldn't use it. Sense has changed so much it's almost unrecognisable from the Sense on the Desire S. I don't like that the Logo's look almost cartoon-ish, I liked how polished Sense was before, it almost looks demo-ish now

Aluminium looks great, but 9/10 times is slippy and you end up having to get a case, covering up what you've payed so much for.. The "Ultra Pixels" have not won me over from the sample shots so far, the screen and audio are the advantages (for me) but overall I don't think I will be continuing with HTC. Will wait and see what Samsung bring to the table.

You know what, I was thinking the same about sense 5 it's very plain, maybe too plain and it has this cartoony look i was thinking just that! like 90s clip art that you had on ancient version of microsoft word, with regards to icons.

I know they were going for minimal but they went for the wrong kind of minimal, there is minimal and classy, and there is minimal and bland or meh! this is a little bit meh.

If I did get it, surely you can still use different launchers? that would remove the blinkfeed i guess, since it's part of sense and sense will be replaced by the alternative launcher skin.

I mean look at Ubuntu for phone, minimal but beautiful and good to look at. I really doubt I could stick with sense 5 if I bought the one.

If that's the case, I'm out. Thought it would just be a default widget. I'll customise my own homescreens tyvm.

They're slating the camera due to the marketing spiel thats come from HTC, who are incapable of promoting a product with anything like intelligence. Which is a shame, as aside from the camera, it does look like an interesting device. Bloody fantastic design and excellent specs.

I think there was a claim that the sensor was the largest in a mobile, which is fine aside from the fact that it isn't true (N8, 808, N86 were definitely larger sensors). The 300% light increase is pure marketing BS.

The 920 comparisons are hilarious, because the camera in that only generates interesting images in very specific conditions - low light stationary objects, and even then the images are unnaturally lit (ie. shutter open for too long). Its utterly useless for nightclub shots or anything in low light with lots of people moving around, all you get is a blur. In anything other than its sweet spot the 920 is barely any different to the 4S/SGS/Note/etc.

Your DSLR comparison is interesting, as the 808 does approach DSLR quality, but in a compact shell, albeit not with a small sensor.
