Can anyone suggest some good "starting" songs?
I do a show on a hospital radio station in Dartford and next week we're going to be embarking on a 50-hour long marathon broadcast in aid of Comic Relief.
I'll be hosting the first stint and so I'm looking for some big songs that'd be suitable for starting this big event and I hope that some of you might be able to suggest some. The kind of songs I'm looking for are along the lines of: Emerson Lake and Palmer - Fanfare For The Common Man Status Quo - Rockin' All Over The World 2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For Republica - Ready To Go Any help would be much appreciated.

I Drove all Night by Cindi Lauper.
That sounds like a lot of fun. I volunteer on Insight Radio (RNIB) and read newspaper articles on the breakfast show and its the best thing that I do! Good luck and enjoy! |

'Let's Get It Started' Black Eyed Peas
'Glorious' by Andreas Johnson... you could do your opening link over the quiet bit in the first 20 or so seconds, then let the music take over. |

Not sure if its the kind of stuff you're looking for but a few of the old Rock & Roll songs have brilliant starting riffs to them

As it's for Comic Relief you really should open with a humorous song, and the best one to start a marathon I can think of is Joy Division Oven Gloves by Half Man Half Biscuit.
