What make and model of tv are you using and is the problem happening while watching channels from the tv itself or from a connected device ?.

To be honest it.s the old tv which I decided to put in a back room just for the footy but god it drives me mad..If you come back saying the tv is rubbish then I'll bin it..

Try a different HDMI cable. I used to have the same, when I changed cables it was fine.

I see it's an HD Ready 1366x768 TV.
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...V/Product.html Although the specs say it should be able to handle 1080p signals fine, I wonder if it might be more stable if you set the Virgin box to output 1080i (or 720p)? Worth a try if a different cable doesn't make any difference. The other possibility might be the HDCP chips in the TV or the Virgin box might be playing up? You could test that by trying the virgin box on another telly, and trying a different HDMI device on the Philips. |

i just had similar thing start happening on my TV (connected to Freesat box with HDMI). On Sony tv your get a black screen, not blue but same thing. Changed over the HDMI cable for a different one and all is well again.
Guessing the cable had gone bad (broken connection inside the plug). ...dont spend much on HDMI cables. Sainsburys have them for a shocking £12 and £13....Just a few pounds on the internet. Doesnt make any difference to the pic or sound quality either as its a digital connection, as long as it works thats all that matters. |
