The Bank Holiday Schedules Discussion Thread
Easter
As every year, around the time of a forthcoming Bank Holiday, a thread will appear asking/complaining/informing about Bank Holiday TV schedules will materialise. So, I thought I would launch a thread so Easter, MayDay, Spring and August Bank Holidays can be discussed and compared! First up is Easter. What sort of "treats" can we expect this Easter? And will any fantasy schedule becme reality? I know Jonathan Creek and When Miranda Met Bruce are on BBC1, but what will be on ITV? |

Looks a bit dull - but with schools / children's TV no longer on the main networks you don't get the big switch in schedules during the holiday period like you used to. Hopefully, the weather will be a bit warmer and we'll be outside!

Now that BBC1 has the full daytime schedule from BBC2 I am concerned it will be virtually status quo with a token film thrown in! (I don't mean a telethon of Status Quo muisic!)

Yes. Retail has little regard for any of its staff these days. Work, work, work, work! They have this arrogant mentality that "staff should be grateful for a job" and therefore demand blood sweat and tears with little pay often without choice.

Does anybody know what films ITV are going to show, what with Sky having all the James Bond films?

The days of special Bank Holiday schedules have now long gone sadly, it's only Christmas when they seem to alter the schedule for a week or two, but that special schedule will never go past the 2nd or 3rd of Jan..the BBC were and still are sticklers for that, if the 2nd and 3rd of Jan fell on a Thursday or Friday back in the day before daytime TV and while still on school Christmas holidays we were treated to a couple of mornings and afternoons of test card F until Play School at 3.55pm..it was like Christmas and New Year never happened..very depressing!

My worst fears.
Good Friday on BBC1 is a near normal day, including Flo9g It! and Escape to the Country and Beat the Pack in the afternoon. Only a Mary Magdalene documentary and Ratatouille at 5pm suggests it's a special day. |

It used to be. There were movie premieres carried over from Christmas, circuses, special editions of popular shows and one off dramas. It used to feel like a special time of year. And, shops closed on Good friday afternoon, Easter Sunday and Easter monday.

Believe it or not, there are millions of people who work hard and just love to potter about their homes during bank holidays. Going out isn't the be all and end all for everyone. If I and others want to watch TV at Bank Holidays then that's up to us. |
