X Factor Netherlands' has introduced a new interesting format to their show this year. The show has been on a hiatus since 2011 and now it returns with 2 new judges and a fresh audition format

All the judges know which category they will be looking after before the actual audition shows begin. The competition between the judges start right from the beginning.

The auditions are closed however audience members can watch auditions from the auditorium, which is apart from the judges, therefore they cannot be influenced.

There are four closed audition rooms, and the judge has 2 assistants with them to help them pick acts to become part of their category. I don;t know if these are famous celebs in Holland but I would say they are probably like vocal coaches, producers etc which will help them find the best in their category.

Therefore each judge only sees their category and the other judges don't have any indication of what artists each of them have or the calibre of the acts. They are focused solely on finding the best in their selected category.

I really would love the UK to adopt this format for the 10th series it could be the rejuvenation that the show needs, and it may move away from getting all these stupid acts on the show.

I think it is as with The Voice

The family members will be watching from a separate room and there will be no audience

No there is definitely an audience because they can apply for tickets through the website

I think the day is divided up into 4 sections, where each category and the mentor and their team will audition the acts. For example,

Groups- Morning
Boys- Noon
Overs - Afternoon
Girls - Evening

That there is an assumption, the auditions start today so tomorrow we should finds out more about where the audience are

It sounds interesting - the USA version should copy. The UK one should have the categories at the end of Auditions, before BC.

yea remember they said they would be going back 2 closed auditions. well this is closed auditions. They were going more back to basics, if i remember correctly didn't the first 2 series have 2 helpers per judge from bootcamp in series 1-3 ? now they r just putting them in from auditions.

You are right - the first three series had different camps from BC.

It sounds interesting. Especially the judges format. To see them each pick their acts from the start woud make it more of a competition for them as well as the contestants.

I think closed auditions this way is a good way to go.

The voice is massive there so this could we be a real competition for Simons show.

nothing really like it, the judges see the acts, the judge shave categories, they pick their own acts from the individual caetgories, and they are bringing back the 2 helpers which they had from 2004-2006 not just from bootcamp this time but from the auditions. The judges on this show also won't have an indication of what the other judges category is like

It pretty much is the voice except they see who they have infront of them. It's too similar.

The voice's main thing is that the judges don't see the singers, and the singer might get to pick whose team he/she wants to be in if more than 1 judge turn their chairs.

I don't see how each judge/mentor building his category alone, without interference or knowledge of the other judges/mentors is that alike to the voice. It might lead to true mentoring because the mentor and the candidate could have more of a connection (well, the mentor at least will because he handpicked them, and they will have more time to develop a relationship).

But what would it mean for bootcamp? separate bootcamp for each judge? No judge's home then?

I think they need to have the 4 judges together at the start, the panel is an important part of the format. Simon and Syco do seem to be approving some variations on the format (I think Germany did something as well?). I guess if one of the changes works out well then they'd look to incorporate it to the UK and US shows.

That hasn't been announced yet However id say it would be individual bootcamp's with possibly them coming together to sing for a live audience. And then judges houses should still happen imo.

Yea Germany allowed live bands to audition, and could play Piano and a variety of instruments at their audition not just guitar.

That is also true I guess, the panel needs time to get to know eachother and develop a banter of sorts too...

Don't compare The voice and X factor !! The second round on the voice is horrendous : the contestants scream at each other in a shouting match. And I still don't understand the first round "I don't want to see your face"

I want to see how they edit it. They may have the judges in a room finding out their category, and their interaction will be backstage comparing their acts. It is hard to know, however it could make the show more competitive.

I'm totally here for this change on both the UK and US versions!
