Ease on usercaps mate as its yelling, but yeah I agree with you totally. People voted this year for the journey rather than the chosen one sotus speak.

He was much clunkier than Tommy Duckworth who was a biggish bloke and managed to be twice as graceful as Matt.

My wife hates this guy. She also thinks the show is a FIX, as I'd being telling her for ages. The judges bow to programme maker's wishes every time ; they are NOT BOTHERED what YOU want.

Samantha, well I never!

I reckon Jorgie Porter was the best skater they've ever had, and maybe Chris Fountain as well

Definately,Chris could wipe the floor with Matt, without even trying

There are some routines over the years which have provided moments which you will always remember, Chris Fountain's time warp, cry me a river or the axel week, many of Ray Quinn's especially the week he did the split jump, Jorgie Porter's 1st routine last year was breath-taking. Matt didn't provide any such moments. Beth's Bolero for me did. He's not the best ever, not even close.

No one's ever attempted it since as far as I can remember.

I was commenting on this in another thread. The thing that made Chris Fountain and Ray Quinn so amazing is that they put so much more than just the required elements into their routine. For example, the week Chris did that drill spin, the required element was "a one-footed spin through at least one full turn." While most of the others barely managed to stay upright through a simple spin, he went all-out and did that. The same can be seen the week that each of them had the required element of doing a jump - Chris did (and landed perfectly) an axel jump, while Ray did the infamous Russian split jump. Just watch the routines - Matt could never have done these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0VFRrTtoxM (Ray, the jump is at 1:30, followed by a 360-dregrees jump spin for good measure!) and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgKKVdwyu4M (Chris, jumps at 1:15 and 1:45)

Also, I admit I wanted Matt to win this year, but if that routine by Ray was only worth 5.5s then there's no way anything Matt ever did was worth full marks!!

IMHO, better than Matt...

Ray
Chris
Matt W
Kyran
Sam
Clare
Hayley
Jorgie
Laura
Suzanne

Also, if John Barrowman had stayed further than Week 4 it wouldn't have taken him long to overtake Matt in terms of technical skills (OT - How exactly did he get voted out so early!?)

Agree with all of the above. Chris Fountain is my best skater by a long way. Then Ray. Matt was clumsy, prone to making awful hip-hop moves and not technically strong.

I agree about John Barrowman, I am not a fan of his but he was voted out way too early. He would have been very good.

Just re-watching some of the links posted for Chris's routines - he wipes the floor with Matt, style, grace, elegance, poise, natural skating ability - he looks like a pro

Chris Fountains week 3 routine was better than anything Matt did! Chris is the best skater followed by Ray

I have also just watched many of the videos of Chris, Ray, Sam and others. How on earth Matt can be considered the best ever male celebrity is quite beyond me. I am not a skater but have watched skating on TV for more years than I care to remember - I remember watching Diane Towler and her partners. As an Eastenders fan, I was for Matt until the leveller week. That was the week that the judges started to really show their bias by keeping Matt in over Shayne. Pamela was thrown out for a stumble that was less obvious than Matt's yet Matt was kept in.

I am also much happier now I have placed one of the more trolling FMs on my Ignore list.

I didn't mind Matt thought he was OK but looking back at his routines compared to Ray and Chris he doesn't look that good, yes he's fast and furious but doesn't have their ability or grace, his style didn't alter much from routine to routine. Chris was my favourite but Ray was superb and even Donal had his moments!

It put me in mind of a hunchback vampire. Having said that, his speed and footwork on the ice is good, but the content is nowhere near as complex as routines in the past.

I found this particular routine baffling as allegedly he went to Italia Conti dance and theatre school and then look perplexed and didn't recognise Night on Bald Mountain

That is really messy at 1.50 he even has to stop to do a single one footed spin, and again right after he stops for another jump. There is no fluid movement at all coming up to the jumps. Even when coming out of the jump he hesitate.

At 2.22 coming out of the life he is so clumpy almost as bad as Joe.
