Celebs and tsunani appeal

I read that Steve and G4 (finalists X factor) have given big to the appeal. Also Jill Halfpenny (winner SCD). What about the winner of BB? Anyone heard of her generosity?

She could be like a real star and give all the proceeds from the sales of her record.

Yeah, she's big on empathy. We were all supposed to feel sorry for her and her position perhaps she will feel sorry for the people suffering in Thailand etc. Well at least perhaps her agent could tell her to give something.

Possibly a pack of twenty fags, then we would know she was serious

This is one occasion when I don't want to hear how much anyone famous has donated. That smacks of self-promotion. The fact that vast numbers of ordinary people have quietly contributed what they can is far more impressive in my eyes.

Come on - this is not a subject to use to slag anyone off about, especially when it is not based upon any facts. You have no idea how much anyone has donated to anything, and nor should the public know - it's not our business. So cut Nadia some slack please, and end this distasteful thread.

My facts were reported in yesterday's Daily Mail. I suppose you will say that's not facts. DS forums always deal in hard fa cts of course.
Distasteful - you make me laugh - How delightfully middle-class." Don't talk about money it's vulgar." Particularly if you are suggesting some-one should give some. But it's ok for Bono and co to go on about world poverty?
It is not our business? You think this forum deals with matters that are our business?
What you mean is the public has given over 100 million but why should boring BB winners have any public conscience.

The BB housemates are part of the GBP. I dislike Nadia, but if she came out and said "I've donated", people would accuse her of prolonging her shelf-life. Lets just end this here and now

I cannot bear Nadia, but I agree, all this criticism of celebs for donating or not, or doing it annonymously or not, is getting beyond a joke, what difference does it make????

You're right; it's only life or death to some people over in Asia. What's that compared to what Nadia's suffered? Now don't let me interrupt your valuable discussions on whether poor Victor has a big arse and the other elevated topics you discuss here.

We're talking about whether it's anything compared to what Nadia "suffered". We're talking about the case of Joe Celebrity being up front and stating how much they donated. How much difference does it make whether they come out and say that they've donated or if they just keep quiet?

Surely (as others have said above) whether or not you donate is a very personal issue. I wouldn't expect to be quizzed on how much I have or haven't donated, and therefore don't need to know how much or little a celebrity has donated either. As FinalBroadcast says, how much does it matter?

CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER VOTING UPDATE

It was previously announced that 16p of every vote (via telephone, mobile and interactive TV) would be split equally among each celebrity housemates' nominated charity. Following the Asian Tsunami, Channel 4 and Endemol UK have decided that the remaining profits from the public vote (9p per vote,) should go to the appeal to help victims of the disaster. Some celebrities have also chosen the Tsunami appeal as their charity.

This means that for every one million votes cast in Celebrity Big Brother 2005, £90,000 will go to the Tsunami appeal in addition to the moneys already being raised for the housemates' charities.

Notes to Editors:
Voting for Celebrity Big Brother costs 50p. After third party costs and VAT, 25p is available for the charitable donation.

Big Blagger.

So she can't win either way. Good. Lots of other people are in that position. Why should Nadia be any different?

Equally though, every other member of the GBP can't win. What are "celebrities" when a disaster of this magnitude strikes? If they've donated, well done. If they haven't, then it's their call.
