Using your synopsis - we must all be jealous of Beth if we don't have world titles and have not won the olympics.

What is it with some women and jealousy. There is no evidence that anyone is jealous of anyone - although is beginning to look increasingly like there might be a lot of underlying jealousy of Karen.

I don't have a problem with the judges having a personal favourite. I do have a problem when they allow that to influence how they mark and comment on other skaters performances. It seemed more blatant this year because ALL the judges favoured Matt and appeared to heap praise on him whilst ignoring his faults.

Beth in particular seemed to fare badly with the judges, maybe because she was proving to be the public's favourite - she was never in the skate off. I suspect also that if Gareth had not been forced out of the competition and had made the final, Matt could have been in 3rd place.

Denise wasn't, I think, the favourite - they wanted her in the final. That was reasonable - as she was one of the best 3 or 4. She was stuck with the professional label too - which was unfair - so they spent a lot of time trying to counter that argument. They seemed to want to help her careerwise too - but not at Louis expense. What wasn't reasonable was just pushing Dani aside with low marks, dull music, negative comments and running order, and underplaying Kimberley. Louis became their favourite - perhaps because they saw he was inevitably going to win, or they wanted an olympian to win, but also also because Bruno and Craig have joined in with Len's male bias in his marking - though probably not for the same reasons. The seme thing happened with Harry the year before.The hype for Louis, who never could act, was very similar to Matt's.

DOI went to ridiculous extremes to claim fault with Beth and to ignore her ability to perform the difficult moves. at the same time they hyped Matt as their best ever - when actually he was very dull compared to the previous best males and could do few difficult moves or tricks. There was a wall of negativity thrown at almost everyone bar Matt, Keithand Gareth and even Gareth was undermarked compared to Matt.

The intensity of the bias is whats surprising. The hype was sustained and reached ludicrous proportions. When I suspect they were told the result before the announcement they looked and sounded as if they were in grief - and we had the comment about Matt being Jason's winner - and when Beth won, they looked thoroughly miserable. Its not clear whether they look miserable as the hype has clearly been ignored, and their credibility is gone. or whether its another sign of their determination to get Matt to the win.?

I can just picture the scene - a gang of 'older' women bitching about the lookers on Dancing on Ice.

What's really disappointing though - is not just the plain old fashioned jealousy, but women attempting to force double standards on their own sex.

I dont need to be jealousy I have a loving hubby who adores me and I adore him. Therefore dont need to be jealousy of women who fake relationships and show fish wife faces on TV.

If any thing I feel sorry for them as their life cant be that happy when they have to fake things or look like they are sucking on lemons.

I wouldn't imagine Brianne needs your pity - no doubt she can pick and choose in a way many can only dream of.

Re the BIB - sorry but Louis wasn't the Strictly judges' favourite! Even in the final he was scored below Denise. There's no evidence that they wanted him to win either, I think there was an acceptance that he was going to win but his win was no thanks to the judges. It was because he connected with a large part of the audience and had a 'journery' similar to Beth's in that he did learn to act and perform and became a very good dancer. They were consistently undermarking him right up to the semi finals. He danced better than Dani and Kimberely in the final so they would have looked mightily stupid if they'd scored them higher than Louis!

The 'hype' was not similar to Matts at all - imo I'd say the way the Strictly judges went gaga over Denise and then switching their favouritism to Kimberely was similar to the way the judges favoured Matt on DOI. The only difference is they had to the good sense to not be so obvious about it in the finals and eventually gracefully accept Louis as the winner!

What??? Why would I be jealous of Karen? I am much younger than her and she is always in the shadow of Jayne Torvill. And all her achievements as far as fame are concerned have been entirely dependent on them.
I can see why she would be jealous of Beth who has talent, resilience and reached the top. There has to be some reason why she was so anti-Beth and did not give her routines to emphasis her strengths.

Ok, you did not imply it. From a few people saying that they disliked Matt's attitude you wrongly inferred that everyone who voted for Beth did so because they preferred her humbleness. You proceeded to spout this as fact on several threads, even in the face of people telling you that this is not why they voted for Beth.

I voted for Beth because I thought she was the better skater technically and her skating style appealed to me more, ergo not everyone who voted for Beth did so because of her 'humbleness', at least one of us (me!) voted for her skill and talent.

The bib is the key question - i just don't think he got significantly better - but they told us he did . Others may think he did, or he travelled further than anyone else. i wasn't too impressed either with the praise for his gymn moves incorporated to add to his wow factor. He could probably do those when he was in primary school, there's no journey there, and they didn't really fit the set dances, Beth used gymn moves but she had no set dances to conform to ,or display, and she was doing them in a completely different environment on skates, on ice and being held in strange untried, new, positions by Dan. I think all the judges were fully in support of Louis once they knew he would win, and some were beforehand. They justified the win. They did put Denise above him - but they did the same for Jason the year before - partly to sugar the loss , partly because they knew it mattered more professionally and partly because Jason and Denise were the best trained old school performers.

To be equivalent to the situation with Matt though you would have to have had Craig consistently telling Louis how awful he was, and the whole panel undermarking him and everyone not called Denise. And, then, you would have had the panel all claiming Denise was better than Kara or Rachel or Jill , and a better actor than anyone , and then Craig saying that Denise was his champion even if Louis won. DOI seems to have jumped several schools of sharks more with its hype.

The Strictly judging panel stay professional and accept the winner.

Usually but I remember Arlene and Craig staying seated when Darren Gough was first announced the winner which was shameful although Arlene did give full credit to Darren later in a documentary to be fair. The way the DOI panel acted with Beth is really shameful.

Er No. I said that from previous experience I believed that Beth was popular because she was humble and many had already spouted on about not liking Matt because of his so called arrogance.

I later read posts stating how people liked Beth's humbleness. The GBP are totally predictable.

Sorry the BIB from your first post is what I was disputing - Louis' situation with the judges on Strictly was never similar to Matt's on DOI - he wasn't over praised, or overmarked imo or hardly ever pulled up for his faults like Matt. Of course Louis got credit where it was due but so did the other contestants. My argument was his journey was similar to Beths - not exactly the same but similar.

If anything he was undermarked on number of occasions particularly by Craig and was criticised for not 'performing' the dances by the judges just like Beth was.


Louis' journery was in him learning to dance ballroom and latin and learning to act the dances - if you watch his dances with an open mind he actually didn't incorporate many gym moves into them - they were added as a touch in his show dance for the wow factor and because the moves suited the quirkiness of Charleston and cheekiness of a few the Latin dances. In most of his ballroom there were no gym moves or in his fusion and samba. I didn't understand all the fuss about Louis adding a few gym moves to the dances - that's what celebs are supposed to do - play to their strengths - it was no different to Kimberely shaking her booty in her show dance and salsa which she's probably done in loads of GA tours and videos!

And do you really think that given that Len is an old skool dance purist he would have praised him for his dancing if he hadn't actually improved? The fact is they were championing Denise and then when it became clear she wouldn't win they switched to Kimberely right up to the semis - they only gave Louis due credit in the finals!

personally I didn't find Matt's skating attractive to watch, reguardless of his personality and I don't like hip/hop type of dancing , so his routines didn't impress me

And that's fair enough. I'm sure many preferred her skating style.

My issue is with those that vote on personalities rather than the skating. And many do - as has been evidenced by all the comments about his arrogance and her humility.
