Projector query - LOTR session!

Hi, I've just bought the extended ed blu ray of LOTR, which I intend to watch back to back all the way through over Easter!

I'm going to watch it on my Optoma HD6720 projector and wonderred it if would be ok to do this considering the viewing will be about 12 hours!?!? Should I take a break to avoid damaging it some how?

Despite much Scandi tv, my Swedish isn't up to much!
Can't see a detailed manual on their website, so does it mention anything on the max run time in yours?

I can't see a problem, we have had our PJ on for about 8 hours with no issues, so long as it's well ventilated and the fan isn't running flat out. You would do more damage switching it on and off periodically, especially if the lamp hasn't completely cooled down.

Presuming there are no issues with ventilation, then from the point of view of lamp life it is actually better to keep the projector on for the entire period rather than switching off.

The reason is that most lamp wear is caused due the the strike-up when switching on. Once the lamp is running then it is losing very little usable life.

I have a number of clients who run their home cinema projectors this way. I have seen first hand evidence of lamps in Sim2 and Barco Cineversum projectors lasting over 6000 hours.

Watch 12 hours of LOTR continuously.

I liked LOTR but lost the will to live just watching the extended version of Return of the King.

It'll look fantastic on a big screen though.

I watched about an hour of the first one at the cinema and then wanted to go home.
I also didn't like the way the "camera" wouldn't keep still. Which is one reason I don't watch ER.
Keep the camera stationary!

it has to be done, especially at the wife and kids will be away!

The good thing about watching 4 hour films at home is that you can pause them for a bathroom break.
