Our job as judges is to ignore what we do or don't think of the contestants off the ice and ONLY judge the performances on it.

Well surely if he is only 'judging' on the performances on the ice, then why did Matt's hunched posture, jerking transitions and no sense of fluidity go unnoticed?, he constantly told him in the first few weeks to work on the footwork then all of a sudden it not be mentioned and any error Matt made he just bypassed and yet slated the others for it?, He and the other judges marked Beth down in the final due to their bias and they were NOT judging solely based on the performances they wanted the 10s for golden boy and nobody else. I really hope if he is back for series 9 he cuts the male bias as no female will ever get resounding praise from him otherwise as he will always compare them to what the men are doing.

Plus the fact that Matt tripped and was still put through after the skate off.
Matt is a good skater and a very worthy runner-up but if Mr Cousins wants to be really picky then he should remember that Beth got the votes each week never be in the skate off.
She got more votes. She won.

Robin's obviously erased from his memory all the previous way better performances done by others

hunched posture, sloppy, eratic skating, no actual difficult skating moves like jumps. spins, change of edges ... just fast hockey skating, breakdancing and power lifts ... not a patch on some previous males ... Robin's lost the plot

and what a slap in the face for Beth

I wanted to slap Robin in the face. To behave the way he has is just so wrong. To treat this lovely young lady the way he has, yes, he has lost the plot.

Ray is still by far the best skater in the history of DOI in my opinion. I can understand the judges preferring Matt to Beth, but not to all other contestants in the history of the show.

Robin should STFU and hope people forget about the shameful way he and the other judges have treated Beth during the series and now even after it.

BIB is that why he saved Matt on "overall potential" or whatever he said when Matt tripped in the skate off and Shane delivered a, for want of a better word, perfect skate - double standards Robin - if you judged purely by what you saw on the ice - Matt should have been sent home

Robin has obviously lost the plot. Beth thoroughly deserved to win based on her whole series and a superb Bolero.


Sad to see how biased the judges were (and this was probably the worst season, not the best - Ray and Suzanne from previous series were in a different league!)


The look on Jason's face when they announced the result, with Robin not much better, was absolutely priceless )


Hope they find some better Celebs for both SCD & DOI next series (if there is one after this lacklustre year)

Hope they find new judges who know how to critique without allowiing their own bias to influence their opinions.

Wow, just so unprofessional! He is entitled to his opinions but I think he should have kept this to himself.

I have no issue with the judges saying that they disagree with the public vote. Robin said it politely and Jason before and during the contest made it clear that he felt that Matt should win.

At the end of the day the public decided they wanted Beth to be Champion and she is a deserving winner. All the judges are saying from their professional view Matt was the better skater and performer. That is their job to provide the public with their view and the public can take it or as they did last night ignore it

They should have accepted with more grace the decision of the public last night when Beth was being crowned champion. That was the time to let Beth have her moment and not to show their feelings. Fair enough the next day say what you really think hopefully as Robin did a polite manner

Looks like Ray Quinn was in the audience last night, wonder how he felt when Robin said Matt was the best skater they'd ever had!
Was never into Ray but he was a good skater even if he did at times come over a tad big headed and no way on earth is Matt anywhere close to his standard

Have to agree, very unprofessional the judges faces, Robins tweets & the ones by the pro skaters, sore losers!!

They should have the decency to praise the winner!
Matt was good but he never appealed to me (came across as arrogant/cocky imo), Beth did she showed how well a non skater could do, improved week by week despite the very obvious favouring scores to Matt.

And i also agree, Ray Quinn was the best male skater by miles of all the shows.

He's stuck. he can't turn round and say that was a good choice too - because the judges were so extreme in their support for Matt. he can't say yes we were overcome by a bout of sillyness. So he's opted for I was right and implying the voters can't see things right. That doesn't work though because the viewers then wonder what he was watching that were not and why is he is so certain he is seeing whats not there.

He ends up digging a bigger hole for his credibility, He even repeats the nonsense about how good Matt was. Worse for the show, though, they don't question why they are seeing what the voters are not, and ask the obvious question - whats good about it if the voters don't enjoy watching it?

I think it's safe to say the judges have learned a harsh lesson.

I wish I could believe that, and I really hope you're right. Next season, if indeed there is one, will show if they've learnt to drop the ridiculous degree of bias.


In the meantime, a few apologies would work wonders, as would an admission that this was the worst series so far, and that they need some "Celebs" with some skating potential if they want to get the viewer numbers up again!

His credibility is fine. Of course he sees what many of the GBP don't - he is the pro and they are the amateurs.

Yes, they should never be allowed to say that they consider 1 contestant is better than the others - in fact to be totally unbiased, maybe next year they should just give everyone the same score every week so the public can decide who wins entirely.

Pro's can be wrong to they are not infalliable they are human the same as the rest of us and they can especially be wrong when they are clearly being biased and not correcting faults. When are looking at something through blinkered eyes you are not getting a true perception of the overall picture.

Also you assume wrongly that the entire GBP watching at home have no knowledge of skating. Whilst the majority may watch purely to be entertained there will be many who skate or have skated not just for fun who can see clearly that the judges have made the mistake of being blatantly, blindly biased towards one celeb.

Whatever the judges personal opinions they are supposed to represent an unbiased view and not let their own personal bias affect their marking and also to not show the disrespect they showed to Beth by not acknowledging her win. Whether they agreed or not they should have respected the decision made by the public and not sat there like petulant little children. You say Robin is a pro well IMO he should have behaved like one.

He has acted totally unprofessionally and, as a judge, to attempt to undermine and debase the winner, is both arrogant and unpleasant

For me beth's bolero was brilliant. far better than matts.
