It is my opinion that all the ensuing controversy over the result of the final, and the bad feeling from the judges and the Matt camp could taint Beth's joy at being voted the public's winner.

I sincerely hope she can turn a deaf ear to all the bad feeling and hold onto the fact that she was the people's choice which is far more important and meaningful than being the judges choice (who are these judges anyway )

Matt may be shouting loud and stamping his feet but he shows neither the maturity nor the dignity of young Beth, which is why the voting public made her their champion. Don't let any of it spoil your victory for you Beth.

Beth has dignity and grace on her side.

She's understands the meaning of true sportsmanship.

"Modesty in victory - gracious in defeat."

Sadly Matt has never learnt such discipline.

The judges faces and responses when the result was announced were imo totally disrespectful to Beth and also to the majority of their viewers who voted her the winner.

I think they should be made to apologise to Beth. They're supposed to be professionals and shouldn't have let their personal feelings show to that extent. Sometimes your favourite doesn't win - get over it.

All this controversey is just adding to the publics fatigue of this show, the "FAUXmances" are a complete turn off, Samia was OFF my radar before the show even started and would have had to have been better than Jayne to win me over!! We want it to be about the SKATING fair and square, NO "teachers pets"!!!

Beth had that when she won her first World Championship on bars and the Americans thought Nastia Liukin should have won...The difference is in gymnastics the judges just give the score they don''t critique you...Beth is a champion and the ITV PTB did not take into account that there are a few thousand gymnasts that adore her and voted for her.

I think regardless of the reason people voted for Beth, whether it was because they're a gymnast, a Dan fan or just thought she was good, she deserved every vote she got. There was no showmance or sob stories along the way. She came across as a positive professional polite young lady. There were no tantrums or tears. She worked hard training, took criticism on the chin and improved every week. Her parents should be very proud of her. Matt Lapinskas could learn a thing or two from Beth!

her Clown and Bolero routines weren't as flash/brash/in your face as Matt's but they were beautifully skated and understatedly "acted"

I could understand the judges reactions if a duffer had beaten their chosen one, but she fully deserves the title

She won fair and square, personally the difference between her and Matt is evident, a graceful female and a rather brash male. Both had their merits but I think Beths attitude was by far the more attractive imo. I actually quite like Matt but his attitude has been 'spoilt brattish' and I am at a loss to see how he was looked upon as the better package he had his moments but Beth was more consistent and very flexible. His performance wasn't that much better as he seemed to play the same sort of character every week Beth did work on the performance side and her skates in the final showed that.

I'm not normally negative or a conspiracy theorist but I bet Dan gets a right dud next year. They won't want any chance of him winning 4 years. Also if there's a tour next year, which I believe there is, they'll want him skating with Beth as she's not had the chance to do the tour this year!

Agreed yellowlabbie and diamond, Beth is a great role model for young children rather than a petulant kid like Matt who chucks his teddy out the cot when things don't go his way!

I have just watched their Clown routine again because I am ashamed to say I was not paying a lot of attention at the time. There is no doubt that the right couple won IMHO . Enjoy your win Beth, you are our champion

Most of the obvious voting arguments actually don't go for her. She hasn't got a big internet following, and it didn't grow much over the series (compare that to Stacey Solomon who tripled followers over her IAC series, and then went on past a million. She ought to have a big following from young gymnasts, but that's not that obvious in any figures. She's not been on ITV like most winners and she's not from a soap.She's also up against a male bias in most reality votes. People have to find a reason from the show to want to vote for her , and she has to provide it. .

Am sure Beth will shake off the silly & childish reaction from the judges. She is a lovely sweet natured girl but underneath that she has a tough underbelly & is a very determined lady. She broke the mould by becoming the first ever British Gymnast (and to date the only one) to win a World title. Despite several injuries she also remained in the sport until the age of 27 when most female gymnasts are long retired finally winning the Olympic medal she truly deserved. Even before London 2012 she had knee surgery just a few Months prior to the games but didn't let that beat her. A few bitchy comments from Jason Gardner is probably a walk in the park after that.

There is no controversy as far as the public are concerned, they rightly voted her the winner. Judges and some pros should really be ashamed of themselves!

I think it mattered more to Beth that she behaved with proper decorum and dignity than to actually win; but, when she won, she behaved in an exemplary fashion.

I think the number of Twitter followers is irrelevant in these shows - Lauren & Pamela have the most by far & didn't do them any good. I thnk the obvious voting threats to Beth were probably Shayne & Samia but neither were as good as you may have imagined on paper so were never going to win.

Beth is well known & liked before the show - many people will have watched her over the years & if not will be aware of her achievements. And then as the show progresses she comes across as likeable & down to earth and then viewers smell a judging bias late on & refuse to be swept up in it.

I've just watched the Dancing On Ice Final again - Matt and Brianne were absolutely brilliant - they were robbed. Beth and her partner were good but for excitement and flare Matt and Brianne were the best.

About the skating - you're having a laugh. All these threads prove that is exactly what it is not about. It is about personalities, simple as.
