Btw - has Beth herself passed any comments on this? Does she feel the judges belittled her win? I have not heard anyone saying so.”

No because unlike plenty of others Beth is behaving like a professional and with some dignity and decorum.

I think you are operating under the misguided perception that just because someone is an expert automatically they are right. That is not the case they are equally as capable of making wrong decisions and in this case it appears that the majority consider the judges to be wrong.

Shocked or not the judges should have stood for her to get her trophy as has happened with every other winner for the past 7 series and Robin's tweets also added to the ungraciousness and unprofessionalism being shown.

Beth is too professional to make any comment, she showed this all the way through the show. She just got on with it, even when Jason was very rude to her on many occasions, she took it well.

The judges looked like idiots imo. They rammed Matt down the GBP throats hoping to get him votes but the GBP weren't listening, thank goodness.”

But I can't see what their motives would have been for that. There were no benefits to them - whoever won. It's not like x-factor is it!

I suspect Matt needed the votes and being as they spent the last how many weeks overpraising and overmarking Matt, they could hardly change their minds in the final.

The benefit is people picking up the phone to vote for Matt on their encouragement. Did they once say 'its neck and neck' like they usually do in a final? I didn't hear it. The judges on these shows never think entirely for themselves, they have producers who are counting the money being made for itv. Pushing extra people to vote for Matt who wouldn't normally, lines the pockets of those decision makers at itv who'll decide on if there is another series or not.

I do wonder why you bothered to watch a programme you think is not very entertaining or did you not watch at all?”

Oh dear, why so defensive? To answer your question - yes I did watch it and yes it was't particularly entertaining. Am I not allowed to say so?

I'm sorry - but I don't think that makes any sense at all.

Did I say you couldn't say so

So at what point did you stop watching this less than entertaining programme - or did you stoically suffer it until the bitter end?

I don't particularly think your posts on Brianne furthering the cause of feminism make much sense either but I refrain from saying so. Everything in entertainment comes down to money. Matt wasn't pulling in the same amount of votes as Beth - proof being he was in the bottom two. So why not big him up a bit and over mark him? It encourages people to vote and brings in money.
Keeps producers happy, keeps the bosses at itv happy, keeps a show on air for another year.

Why watch - why read?”

Oh dear, clearly you don't like someone asking why you should get your knickers in such a twist over a trivial matter in a TV show!

As to the questions, I don't think I have to be accountable to you as to what I choose to watch or even what I read here!

Suffice to say I find this thread very silly but in a strange way more entertaining than the original programme - a facinating insight to peoples perceived dramas!

No, they were most definitely unprofessional. They didnt even pretend to look pleased for her. I don't believe they were shocked at the result because they must have realised she might win as she'd never been in the bottom two.

Not sure I understand what you have written, is it a statement or a question?

Either way, you originally asked me whether I had actually watched the programme and I have answered it. The need for a supplimentary response seems pointless!

Beth is a professional competitor who is used to judges deciding whether she deserves a medal or not....Gymnastics is often subjective and there are always people who think someone else should have won...She is used to being in a situation where the margin of error is so small between a medal and 4th place.....
And what these judges did was reminiscent of the judges of the old Soviet block, they gave the highest marks to the one the decided should win. Then sulked and whined. Made their views known to the press to undermine the winners...It happened to Chris and Jayne in 1994 because all the judges were from the old Soviet bloc and voted for the Russians.
These judges have been caught out by their reaction because they were trying to influence the vote, they wanted ITV friendly Matt to win rather than somebody that managed to do what ice dancers are supposed to do, which is be technically brilliant and present the routine.... Beth in her career was caught between those that are more technical and those that are more artistic in gymnastics...On the ice she did both..for some reason Karen did not want her too, her coaching is all about personality, outshining technique. Which is why in her skating career she was outshone by Jayne and Chris who were so brilliant technically, that they beat the Soviets. Karen and Nicky had sparkle and "personality" but not the technical brilliance to get close to T&D or the Soviets.
All the talk about personality, Chris and Jayne are both very quiet, placid people, Chris is very shy and only really expresses himself on the ice but he is always flawless while he skates and so is Jayne. What they have is unique, from a deep connection between best friends, how can be convincing as lovers, though they are not...
Beth best understood what was required, she is a born competitor and is used to being coached and she competed it as a sport which is what ice dancing is.
The judges thought they knew what they were talking about in order to get the votes they wanted, they have seriously damaged the show...In the professional world of gymnastics and ice skating judges that try and influence the result get fired. It is corruption which backfired. They hugely under estimated Beth's fan base and how important she is.
She is such a big name in international gymnastics that she had her name on a line of leotards by GK, which were sold to young girls in gymnastics across the world...The kids that have watched her and cheered for her most likely voted for her.

I agree ... it doesn't bother me that they'd prefer Matt to have won, it's not only unprofessional, but it's pure common courtesy to stand for the winner no matter who it is .... especially as the panel have done it EVERY year in the past
