I agree about the lack of fun. i can't think of many marking fields where its recommended to go on and with negatives about all the people being marked bar one . You encourage every one as much as possible, and you never ever downplay someone elses achievements to make someone else look good. It also just makes the show look bad, convinces the audience that its not high quality, suggest no improvement, and suggest there's no compettion - the opposite of what you wnat to do.
Not sure about SCD comparison. Ultimately DOI is about whether people enjoy a performance because its dramatic, exciting or artistic or emotional, and whether, if there's a task, they manage to do it. SCD has a lot more in the way of set steps and conventions that t need to be obeyed - so you might expect the judges to be making more technique comments, and the. public to follow them. SCD can do this and still make things look exciting, new, and entertaining, because its dances are different and have their own styles, and because its contestants are not worrying about following over. DOI seems to have forgotten it depends on being exciting, and engaging us, and providing a real compettion - or all we have is a series of very similar routines leading to a known finish . The gap is closing because Strictly has put less attention on the steps and more on entertainment in recent years , and last year came me up with a good compromise - which if anything, makes DOI's task more difficult. DOI really needs a positive atmosphere, a close race, and better routines if its going to compete.
