Onion and garlic not to be used in a recipe together??

I always used onion and garlic together I thought, then I remembered I never put garlic into Bolognaise sauce. Many years ago I used to then left it out as I forgot to buy some and thought it tasted better without, so maybe there's something in it.

i think he says a "proper" spag bol ragu does not have garlic.

The onion adds volume and thickness, the garlic adds flavour. whyever not both?

I made a marinara sauce for pizzas using both garlic puree and ground onion. Best one I've ever made.
