I was listening to it and thought I'd read up about its creation but learned it is actually her third studio album as she released two before it in Canada.
Has anyone got/heard those albums? Are they good? |

She also had her first single when she was really young, Fate Stay With Me/Find The Right Man. A little creepy for a kid, but she paid for them herself and worked to do it, which is quite impressive. There are a load of demos floating around from that era too.
Then she went mainstream in Canada and had her first two albums. I actually really like both of them. They cost me about £100 each at the time as I wanted the original releases and not copies. That was just after JLP was released. You can pick them up much cheaper now. Alanis was the first one and is very Stock Aitken and Waterman kind of era. Catchy throwaway pop music. Now Is The Time is more grown up, with elements of the past as well as elements of what was to come. Some good ballads and fun songs. Then there are the gap songs that she recorded between the two eras, when she left Canada, such as No Avalon, Superstar Wonderful Weirdos. Total departure, but not quite JLP. Years later she played Too Hot again at one of her shows and seemed embarrassed yet proud at the same time. |

Yes she did two Teen/Dance popalbums in Canada in the early 90's. They are not to bad some nice catchy upbeat pop but hard to relate it back to the Alanis we know.
And the other poster mentioned she performed some of the earlier songs at a later gig she also considered putting some of the singles of that time on The Alanis Morissette Collection but thought it wouldn't fit with the other songs so went against it. |
