Love Pink Floyd. Got all their albums.

So many great songs, but Comfortably Numb is probably the best for me.

Many other greats though. Echoes, Time, Us and Them, All of Animals, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, See Emily Play, When The Tigers Broke Free, and on and on.

The Wall is an absolute epic.

Got my tickets to see it live this year.

Shine on You Crazy Diamond gives me shivers. I also love Money.

Their albums best to worst:

Meddle
Animals
DSOTM
WYWH
Piper
Wall (IMO it's overrated - I think there's a lot of filler on this)
Atom Heart Mother
Ummagumma
Division Bell
Saucerful of Secrets
Obscured by Clouds
Momentary Lapse of Reason
Final Cut
More

Phenomenal band - although I prefer Genesis in the prog-rock bracket

Bike.

Syd was a unique songwriter, they were never the same without him.

Difficult to have a fave song as there were many great musical moments from them. Echoes, Sheep and Comfortably Numb are amongst my favourites Also love A Saucerful Of Secrets on studio album, and the live Astronomy Domine and Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun from Ummagumma.

This isn't in the Appreciation Forum, therefore people don't have to be favourable.

mushymanrob is not the only one to prefer the Syd Barret era of Floyd. I remember Paul Weller saying something very similar on Pink Floyd.

You probably are. A good song, but so many far better ones.

A lot of people enjoyed the Syd era, me included, but it consisted of one album, a few singles, and one song on the 2nd album. but so much more followed.

But arguably none of it quite so good.

For a lot of people, Floyd in the '70s ended up representing everything overblown about rock during that era.

Robyn Hitchcock has built an entire career out of copying him.

I went off Pink Floyd when The Wall came out. I thought it was pompous and pretentious. Comfortably Numb was the best track on it, but after hearing so many terrible versions of it, it grates as much as Stairway To Heaven.

And for just as many....that was exactly what they loved about them

considering the sales of albums, the sell out concerts, and the still considerable following they have, I suspect far more became fans during that era.

Waters has been touring The Wall for over two years now, and it is a sell out wherever he goes. Phenomenal really.
