9200 Recent OTA update
betterspud
14-03-2013
Did anyone else receive an update on Monday? My box was updated in the default 4am update check and it screwed everything up.

** All my recorded programs were deleted. (I even checked by connecting via PC connection, but nothing there.)

** Made it impossible to watch newly recorded programs, claiming they were blocked or scrambled. - Rectified it by doing a reformat and all subsequent programs were fine.

** During the first 24hrs, all BBC channels were overlaid by a green transparency. This was easy to remove, by pausing and watching it time-shifted by only a few seconds, which removed the green overlay. It seems that a subsequent update on Tuesday fixed the problem.

Everything seems okay again now, but it was a bit of a pain in the butt for a while. Just wondered if anyone else suffered similar??

According to the DTG web-site there hasn't been any OTA transmissions for standard definitions machines so an OTA update is unlikely to be the cause of your problems.

The order of your post suggests that your recorded programmes were lost before you formatted the hard disk, is that really the case as formatting the hard disk will certainly have deleted your recordings.

An off colour picture is usually caused by a SCART plug not fully pushed into it's socket, the fact that you only saw it on the BBC might be a coincidence and a slight movement of the cable reconnected the offending connection. Although what you say about time shifting suggests something else but I don't know what.

No one else has reported anything like your problem so it is local to your set-up and nothing to do with an OTA for the 9200, we'll be very very lucky to see one of those again.

This is a relatively common problem caused by the file system becoming corrupt. It was possible to retrieve the programs on the disk (before you formatted) but it isn't particularly straightforward. As you have found formatting the disk is the fix. You will have to provide more evidence to convince us that this had anything to do with software updates.
