What was tabloid reaction to Beth's win?

I have The Metro from Monday and at first I couldn't see any mention at all

Then looking through again, on page 7, there is a side heading with a small eight line paragraph under it.

I'd have expected a picture with it at least

Tabloids are only interested when there's a scandal attached .

Even the local paper here ( Blackpool) didn't even have much in it considering Dans from Blackpool I'd have expected more

You'd have thought they would have seen it as worth reporting with him getting the hat trick

I'm sure previous winners had more coverage

they're more interested in Samia and Sylvain having a tiff at the wrap party

The Mirror only had a small segment on page 3 and a small pic on the front of the paper and same with The Sun as well.

I really don't get what is going on with it this year what is the problem? why does there seem to be such despair that Matt didn't win its not like he is the greatest A list celeb there has ever been that its a travesty that he was done out of his win. Not that it's stopping him getting all the column inches anyway with his "romance" still being the main feature.

That seems to be more important than Beth winning and Dan getting his hat trick. Although I know what I would rather read about.

I'm afraid that's what the readers of the DM prefer:yawn:

Some nice pictures there

However they have avoided the judges 'lukewarm' shot - there's one with Philip and Christine behind them, and another showing four 10's for Matt

There is a half page with pic in today's Manchester Evening News, touches on the winners, runners up and the COI tour. Not yet online but may appear later.

Within this article I noted the following observation.

Quote:
“Judge Jason Gardiner, who described being ‘bored to Beth’ in the opening episode of this eighth series of the talent contest, walked off the set as soon as the closing credits rolled.”

Clearly Jason never learnt 'modest in victory - gracious in defeat.'

Makes my grapes ever sweeter.

What a sulky reaction from Jason

Another quote from the article re Lauren:

Quote:
“Despite being miked up and a cameraman primed to film her, there was no mention made on the programme of the contestant whom Jason described as having the sensuality of ‘a walrus on ice’.
”

Why mic her up and then not speak to her

He'd just been told a relative was seriously ill in hospital - he could have just wanted to get to a phone to see how he was?

You're perfectly right - it just says he left as soon as he could, but doesn't specify why - it could have been annoyance over the result, or it could have been to phone about his grandfather.
