Western Longmire starts on Sun 17 Mar, 9pm on TCM HD. This doesn`t look a bad show. katee sackoff being in it is one of reasons i`ll be watching. Plus i think its already being renewed for season 2.

It is quite good, and yes, season 2 will be starting in the US in June.

watched first episode last night. thought it was good. seems to have got good reviews in america so hopefully i`ll enjoy the rest of it. im guessing its on TCM because that is the home of westerns apparently. I wouldn`t be surprised if the next western series Wyatt Earp will also be on there.

There was a Wyatt Earp series in development at Fox in 2011, but it never got the greenlight for a pilot, so I think it is dead. Is that what you were thinking of? Right now ABC is making a pilot for a western, Big Thunder, and NBC is making a pilot for a western/fantasy hybrid, The Sixth Gun.

After Hell On Wheels started in 2011, there were a few different western projects in development at various channels, which led to some articles about the western making a comeback. Then ALL of those projects died. Yeah, so not much of a comeback. We'll have to see what happens with Big Thunder and The Sixth Gun. I heard that the lead in Big Thunder was just cast -- an Irish actor who has made a name for himself in UK soaps like EastEnders and Holby City. I believe his name is Ed MacLiam. Ever heard of him?

There is an entry for him at IMDB, as "Edward MacLiam."

I enjoyed the first episode of Longmire. I liked the characters and the touch of humour.

I really enjoy this show although i am not a fan of murder of the week cop shows at all. It really uses the outdoors and Sheriff Longmire does ride horses. So long as you watch it without expecting too much i think you will find its a keeper.

I love the books and although there is only a passing resemblance in the TV adaption, I still love it, another plus, it's got Katy Sackoff.

I guess no-one watched it on Freeview a few days ago as there are no comments?

I watched it on Freesat, but was disappointed that there were no subtitles - I often like to have them on when watching American shows, especially when there are outdoors scenes, where the sound is not very good.

I found the programme itself to be quite watchable - not ground-breaking, but interesting.

I've really enjoyed the first two episodes - great cast. Always good to see Lou Diamond Phillips on TV Robert Taylor is great, and I love the Wyoming setting.

I've read the first book in the series, and a couple of the characters are physically a bit different in the show, but that's not unusual for an adaptation, and it seems to have stayed true to the spirit of the books (well, the first one at least).

I heard about Longmire and it seemed to be not unlike the Joe Pickett novels by C J Box. I've been looking for another author similar to C J box forever and it seems I've found one! The series - well I'm going to give it a go.

I'm not familiar with C J Box, but having looked it up I might give it a go, as I've read all of Craig Johnson's Longmire novels.

I hope you like C J as much as I do. Anxiously awaiting his latest in the series.

Have Channel 5 decided to rename the programme Sheriff Longmire?

Yes - it presumably makes it easier to attract viewers?

I was very pleased to see that Channel 5 has decided to show it with sub-titles! As I get older I find it more difficult to follow American dialogue, especially the outdoors scenes. Obviously there are a lot of these in a show like this.

I'll probably be watching it again, even though it has only just been shown on 5USA. With the sub-titles on I may find the stories even easier to follow.
