What are your suggestions? I say Lettuce is a prime example. By itself it has to be the most boring thing but once you put it in a cheese and tomato sandwich or chicken and mayo its well yum!!

Potatoes, rice, pasta....

They need seasoning at least. Condiments & sauces also help.

Paneer. Pretty tasteless on its own but nice in a curry.

Rice

Puzzled about lettuce having any potential whatsoever though, as to my tastebuds it's about as tasty as eating a digestible form of cellophane.

tinned tuna. its rubbish on its own. it needs salt, vinegar, salad dressing, loads of salad stuff like tomatoes, cucumber. in fact, its best left in the tin and just eat all the stuff that makes it edible.

Anything carby basically.

If it's white and carb, it's stodge. It has little taste, and is best avoided.
Examples = pasta, rice, potatoes, bread.

I find Beef & Beef products boring unless you add Gravy or sauces/condiments to it. I can have a nice Sirloin or Rump Steak yet not finish it, as i can get bored with the flavour even though there's a little bit of the Steak left to eat.

Why you would ever avoid things like pasta and potatoes I can't imagine - they're so versatile. You must not have a very good imagination.

On the contrary, cooking without adding mountains of starchy stodge requires someone to be *more* imaginative.

I use a variety of vegetables, fish, meat and eggs, all flavoursome. I don't depend on pasta and potoates to 'pad out' the meal.

Erm, neither do I, but as staples go they're very versatile so to say that such food-types are merely starchy stodge and should be avoided is just plain silly.

I think it's best to avoid them most of the time, and do so, mainly because I think a low glycaemic approach is the best way to eat.

My energy comes mainly from fats and proteins, keeping starchy foods to a minimum.
