I have noticed that Chloe, Ash's vegan girlfriend played the young Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady

Keith worked precisely because he was dull and boring, and a drain on those around him. The Office was set up to satirise an actual office, in which there are interminable bores.

On the programme itself, I think it's a lot funnier than any other 'comedy' on TV at the moment (apart from the blackadder repeats, of course). The scripts are fairly routine, and most of the jokes predictable, but it's the quality of the four main performers - the oldies - which make it enjoyable.”

Very much agree. The performers are outstanding.

Again I agree. At first I was a bit 'meh' but stuck with it and I absolutely love it now. I love the Derek Jacobi character on the phone to his oblivious old mum at the beginning of every episode and then the Ian McKellan character making a big appearance at the top of the stairs moaning on as per

First series of shows often fail to deliver but this one seems to have developed quite a buzz (admirers and haters in equal proportions - marmite tv lol)”

I remember that the first series of Only Fools and Horses was lambasted at first and wasn't very popular at all, nowadays it probably wouldn't even be given a second series but look how it took off after some brave person decided to stick with it? So I agree that a second series of Vicious could really make the series take off so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

THAT'S where I've seen her before? It was bugging me like mad! Thanks SULLA

Arguing as to whether or not Ash is boring has become tedious

Indeed. Even if the viewing figures are not yet great, they should give it a chance at least. You never know how big it could become.

But isn't that quite an obvious statement? The second series will air in 2014, and as with this year, they'll be shooting in January - February time?

I have stuck with it because i feel there is promise there - unfortunately it is still failing to deliver for me. Mind you, I actually gave a small laugh at the end when one of them said " well he chose to be straight - and that's what he got" in reference to his awful girl friend. But mostly I feel the writing is poor, the canned laughter too loud and undeserving. The writing needs sharpening up. Other wise it's nice but tame TV, which is an improvement on my initial assessment.

It's filmed in front of a live audience.

In that case why do they do the sound mix to make it sound like canned laughter?

I would like to know were they are heading with Ash's character will it turn out he is gay and fancies either Freddie or Stuart or will he land up with Violet who has such bad luck with men?

Those Disney sitcoms in the US do that best. It does seem realistic - the laughs are louder and last longer on some jokes than others.

For me this show gets better and better. Last Monday's episode had me in stitches. Hope they do another series.

I posted some very critical comments after the first episode, and I still don't think it's that good, but I must confess to having watched all the epiosdes on the ITV player and I'll miss it when it's no longer on. There are usually a couple of funny moments per episode, which is more than you get in most new comedy these days, and I do like watching McKellan and Jacobi hamming it up but Ash is utterly awful, both as a character and as a performance. My favourite bit of the series was when Ash came running in to say he'd got a part in a film and Ian McKellan's horrified/shocked/hate-filled/stunned reaction. I hope it gets a second series.

Bib Totally agree. I understand they need a 'stooge' character for the main leads to bounce off, but the casting of Ash has really let it down.

But apart from that I have laughed out loud all through the series and am gutted this is the last one.

Is the white haired guest the guy that had a heart attack as he was about to sign Partridge's new contract?

I have no idea but it's Philip Voss. He's been in endless stuff at the RSC.

Loving this so much tonight. (Just slightly annoyed I looked it up in the online Radio Times to see who the actress playing the mother is - I was curious to see how old she was!). Even Ash has made me laugh tonight. I was wondering why they always introduced him to Violet!

I find this show hilarious !!
Sure, its not perfect, things could be polished for a second series.
But it has improved vastly on the first episode.
I really hope ITV give it a chance and go with a second series!
