Dear god! Have we gone back to the 70's?

This is awful.

It isn't canned laughter. It's recorded live infront of a studio audience.

Sounds as if it was recorded at the London Palladium... This is already a dreadful US style "comedy" copy....
it was written by the person who wrote will & Grace apparently thats why

I hate it when Sitcoms try and make every single line a joke. Loses impact, especially when they aren't funny...

5 mins was as much as I could stand.

Quick in-joke: Derek Jacobi IS from Leytonstone.

That's all I have to say about that 5 minutes I'll never get back

The jibes would be worthy of The Golden Girls if they were done in the same style....

Whats with the orange tinge? this seems very retro. I cringed at the 'we'll cross that bridge when we get to it' mention (re rape 'joke'). My mum has a tendency to use that saying (though not in reference to rape of course(!!)), it winds me up.

Jeez this is bad and what's with the terrible canned laughter?
sadly that's not canned. there are "actual" people in an audience laughing @ this tripe.

The laughter isn't canned. People on Twitter watched it being recorded.

I like it simply because I like Mckellen and WANT to like it. It's basically 2 luvvies indulging but I think that's quite funny.
I liked the gag about Mckellen being from Wigan (I can't believe he was born in Burnley lol he has certainly worked on his accent)!

The theme tune pretty much summed up how gay the show is..I did like the 'nobody wants to rape you' line.

If it wasn't the audience laughter I think I'd be ok with it - it's more of a comedy that passes half an hour with a smile at times rather than raucous laughter.
