As usual, the aspiring TV critics have come out to play.

Its pretty good so far. I'm smiling, and I'm sure millions are.

While on laughing gas, I presume?
Lol.

God when I was a kid in the 90's there were sitcoms like this on everyday of the week, most of them long forgotten because they were crap. But they all had laughter in the background, its a how a proper sitcom should be!

I don't really like to be too critical too soon but I think this is a disappointment so far. It's llike Terry and June for a 'stereotypical' gay couple, with jokes as subtle as a speeding juggernaut. There's also more 'ham' on display than in a delicatessen!

Shame. Let's hope it improves as Jacobi and McKellen should be able to make it entertaining and give us some funny moments!

So far it seems ok. I keep expecting the red curtain to come across like a stage show for some reason.
Nothing wrong with stage shows.....

I don't think it is that bad. It needs less raucous laughter and not having so may one liners constantly fired at you...less is often more but with a bit of tweaking it could be OK. I just love Derek Jacobi anyway.

Yeah, I don't like the one liner after one liner style sitcoms. Why I could never get into Not Going Out.
At least the laughter is quieter. I agree because the catty remarks are being chucked out at a rate of knots it seems to have no comic timing.

Is it too soon to hope for a Christmas special?
I thought I read recently that ITV have already commissioned a Christmas special for this show. Someone who was at the filming of the pilot show mentioned it?.

Jacobi's going a bit over the top with the 'ole queen act.

But other than that, I think I could really get into this show. The funniest bits have been Jacobi's reaction to the light, and McKellen's "NO ONE WANTS TO RAPE YOU!"

It's a bad day when the only thing remotely funny about this was a few lines about being raped.

The jibes would be worthy of The Golden Girls if they were done in the same style....

Think of the possibilities if John Inman were still alive.

Tripe! Mind you I did laugh briefly at 2 lines The one about his (thick) ankle putting up a fight and when Ian McK said nobody wants to rape you.

"I was on tour with Shakespeare, I believe."
"That's right, you two were old school chums."

I liked that one.

Jaded, I'm surprised.

To be fair, it's not terrible but I'm not sure if it will hold me.
