My ramblings. I don't know any of the scores, but have given mine
Well the opening number was a bit frenetic but fun. Nice to see Maks partner Karina. I'm glad they can do that now.
Ingo and Kym - Cha cha (Tony and Emma)
You know you're in trouble when your pro choreographs hip thrusts and knee slides instead of cha cha! Side by side a bit pointless here. A 5 from me.
Jacoby and Karina - Jive (Maks and Karina)
Annoyed that he still thinks dancing is effeminate - he should be over that by now. He looked good in the side by side. Good tricks, but he wasn't very light on his feet - seemed to walk through the steps and had bent feet. He's more show than substance for me, but I don't suppose that will stop him getting to the final

Victor and Lindsay - VW (Tris and Emma)
Aw, poor Victor

. On the bright side

that VT will garner lots of sympathy votes. Tris would be a very unintimidating, reassuring teacher, I think - his and Emma's section was lovely. Wish Victor had more in hold (he looked good). Fine in the side by side. Didn't like the choreo, but he wasn't the disaster I was expecting. Improvement. 6
Aly and Mark - Samba (Tony and Whitney)
Aly looked great in the side by side and, apart from a misstep, I thought she was good throughout. The dress flattered her slightly stocky shape and helped emphasise bounce. She looks more like a dancer and less like a gymnast. First time I've really 'got' Aly. Mark put in too much twirly and thrusty. 8
Sean and Peta - QS (Tris and Chelsie)
Loved the opening with T and C - would have been happy to see 2 minutes of these two! Sean actually did okay with this, but seemed half a beat behind. Decent frame. Possibly his best so far, but he has an awkwardness that puts me off. 7
Kellie and Derek - FT (Henry and Anna)
Unbelievable that this is their first ballroom - they really shouldn't be starting basic technique in week 5!!! Lovely opening section from the 2 pros and the side by side was excellent. Great traditional music for a foxtrot and lots in hold (yay!). Kellie's hold and frame looked good to me, though her shoulders crept up. Apart from the penguin dance, Kellie's wig and Derek's outfit, I loved it! 9
DL and Cheryl - Tango (Chelsie and Sasha)
Chelsie and Sasha were great and I loved the shadow thing at the beginning. DL seems to have got better at learning choreography (as in remembering where to be at what point) and keeping time, but unfortunately he just walks the steps and sort of bounces a bit in time to the music. No discernable tango technique that I could see. 4
Zendaya and Val - AT (Anna and Maks)
I really liked the music and theme in this. As far as I could see, Zendaya's technique was really excellent. Very sharp and she nailed the dramatic side perfectly. I thought her ultra long legs looked a bit spikey at times particularly in the ganchos and (especially seeing her next to Maks and Anna), she looked too tall for Val. But that's not really something she can change

and I'm just jealous of her very long limbs

. 9.5 (I can't quite bring myself to give a ten in week 5!!

)
Andy and Sharna - Paso (Emma and Sasha)
Well, Andy nailed the zip wire and the cape-ography. Everything in between was a bit rubbish, but, as ever, Sharna shows she's the master (mistress) of storytelling and making the best of it. Well done that woman! 5
Emma gets three dances and never speaks - what's with that?
The extra pros really helped in the training room.
Best: Zendaya then Kellie, with Aly third.
Worst: DL and Andy
Most forgettable: Ingo
To go: DL or Ingo
