I agree with you about the dance. I don't think many dancers invent moves...I think they see it somewhere and put it their routine. For me the video didn't look like Kellie's routine except for the lean. So I'm with you on that.

But in GENERAL for me....why so much anti-Derek? Well I don't feel like writing a book about it but.... I have no real issue with Derek.....I am pissed at his fans though. There are some Derek fans sites (namely puredwts) who have been down right mean, spiteful and disgusting to Zendaya the entire season. I personally feel they act this way because they desperately want Derek to win. If you have any doubts about what I'm talking about check there site and see what they say about Zendaya. Check their comments about Zendaya etc.

For me it makes it hard to root for Derek when you got some nasty fans...but that's just me.
There's nasty fans in every fanbase I choose to ignore them otherwise you wouldn't like anyone. I read some of the comments and there are truly awful but then again I read nasty stuff about Derek & Kelllie too.

First of all, my apologies for not realizing sooner that this was a Zendaya and Val Appreciation thread.* I dislike when people come to an appreciation thread and post things that aren't so appreciative. Though, in all fairness, I don't believe I ever wrote (or thought) anything negative about either Zendaya or Val. They are both very talented and would have been worthy winners. Val did an incredible job of picking up hip hop, and his choreography for Zendaya, like all of his choreography, has been stunning. Zendaya performed with verve and panache from her very first walk down the stairs, and I believe Val when he says she helped restore his confidence in himself. Let's not forget that all entertainers are insecure or they wouldn't knock themselves out so hard to please. We need to knock less and appreciate more, in my view.

About the claim that international fans couldn't vote with the ABC site unavailable, a Digital Spy readers' poll taken before the finale showed Kellie with 50% more reader votes than Zendaya: http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/s92/dan...r-for-win.html

And something I was unaware of, a TV Guide poll taken before any dances were danced in the finale (and thus before the freestyles), showed readers preferring Kellie by more than two to one. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Dancing-...n-1065741.aspx So it's possible Kellie would have won even without that freestyle. We'll never know, but I'd bet the votes weren't even close. Which takes nothing away from Zendaya, other terrific Disney channel dancers (Sabrina Bryan, twice) didn't win either. Since most viewers are older, it's not surprising.

They are ALL winners in my book. For any celebrity to put themselves out there on live TV in front of millions of people earns my praise. And having been to a live show I'm just as impressed by the crew who have to change sets in practically split seconds and make everything flow as effortlessly as it appears to flow is amazing.

*Now I'm confused because I see this is a general discussion thread. I could have sworn I saw I'd been in an appreciation thread the last time I posted. Once again, kudos to Zendaya and Val.

ETA: I agree about the nasty comments on PDWTS about Zendaya, claiming ABC was pimping her, etc. You have to realize that one of the mods over there (maybe two, I'm not sure) is a conspiracy theorist who always believes ABC fudges the numbers and does everything with an ulterior motive to benefit someone or other. That person practically claimed there was no way Jacoby could end up in third place. She also claimed Zendaya would get the encore, etc. As far as I know it is mainly one person, who can't help being a conspiracy theorist. She didn't even want Derek to return to DWTS this season, she wants him to "move on" and said she didn't want to take on the extra work another season would entail.

BIB - There are two current DwtS threads . This one is for general discussion, the other one is the Z and V App Thread

ETA - Just seen your edit - Lol! Look at the top of the page just underneath the masthead - it shows you where you are!!

Click 'Dancing with the Stars' (blue text). All will be revealed!

Thanks. It was last night when I backed out of DS that I saw (to my horror) I'd been posting in the Appreciation thread. A little while ago I did see at the top that it was the General discussion thread. I'll stay away from the Appreciation thread not because I don't appreciate Zendaya and Val--I do--but because I think the other posters would rather not read my posts. Which I can understand. But I have nothing but praise for Zendaya and Val.

Thanks for the link. Great article.

"Before he gets a chance to visit his hometown, he'll lace up his cleats for the first time since the Ravens won the Super Bowl over the San Francisco 49ers in New Orleans on Feb. 3. Jones set several records, and scored two touchdowns in the win. Jones wasn't on the field when the Ravens began OTAs earlier in the week. But Coach John Harbaugh wasn't too worried. Jones' excuse, while unusual, was a legitimate one. While practice was beginning, Jones was finishing up a stint on "Dancing with the Stars," where he placed third.

"I was proud of Jacoby through the whole thing," Harbaugh told the media earlier in the week. "He should be in great shape. I thought he did great. I was proud of him. He represented all of us very well."

Jones said great shape didn't begin to describe how he felt after completing months of six-hour dance practices. "I've never done anything like that in my life," he said. "I'm still a little tired from going straight from the Super Bowl to that." Jones said he wasn't disappointed with coming in third. The experience was great for him and his family.

"And it was a heck of a workout," he said.

"Life might move a little faster for Jones now that people know him as "the guy who makes all the funny faces on TV." People didn't really recognize his face before, he said, as it was always obscured by a helmet. Now sometimes he'll get stopped by fans when walking through an airport by fans or when he's out and about. His charity event got a new sponsor in Verizon. Other than that, you know me, I'm just the same guy," he said.

"A self-described "big kid," Jones wouldn't miss the event closest to his heart for the world. He said he'll be "busting his butt" to make the plane from Baltimore to New Orleans to make it back by Friday afternoon."

So happy Jacoby participated this season. The first active NFL player to do the show, Jason Taylor, got in trouble with his Miami Dolphins coach for doing DWTS rather than training with the team, which resulted in bad blood and him being released from the Dolphins. Maybe by now more people believe when football players say dancing is every bit as tough a physical challenge as NFL training. But I'm happy they had a final four rather than a final three. Thankfully the final four all got paid the same. Hope many of the DWTS cast attend this worthy cause

So happy for Emma. With all the changes coming to dwts next season, I think the troupe will have less of a role on the show I had wanted dwts to make Emma & Henry pros. Glad I get to see Emma for now

Love it!!! Thank you so much for letting us know about that! So happy to hear he's got steady work and a fiancee in Hollywood! I'll check their schedule to see if they're playing any shows we can catch.

He's such a charming nice guy as well as a very talented dancer and performer.

I'm looking forward to seeing Emma on Strictly but I wonder how she feels about it?

It seems like she's been based in America for a while and since Strictly is a quite a long stint I suspect she'll miss her boyfriend Sasha Farber.

I also had a look at her twitter feed and she hasn't mentioned that she's starting on Strictly whereas Janette and Iveta have - Alijaz sort of did by retweeting something. Janette and Iveta seem very excited to be joining the line up.

Just speculating really - she could be very happy to have the chance on Strictly but I suspect she probably would have preferred a place in the DWTS pro/celeb line up.

Good luck to her anyway - I'm really looking forward to seeing her and yay someone homegrown

I wonder if there's going to be room for the troupe next season and also wonder if they might go down to 10 couples. Maybe (and I'm just speculating, too ) Emma was glad to be offered some (any) definite work

This is a great opportunity for Emma. One of those lifetime opportunities that is too good to pass up. I thought the same thing, with DWTS going to one show each week next season, that there would not be enough "work" for the troupe dancers. I am sure Sasha would be so happy for Emma, long distance relationships can work. Maybe he will join her in the UK, who knows? Good Luck to them....

I'd love Sasha to be a pro on Strictly - he seems a great personality and dancer. He looks on the shorter side and now Vincent has left I think they need a shorter pro for the petite female celebs........maybe next year if they change the male pro line up.

Tony definitely needs to stick to ballroom/latin dancing - this freestyling is just too funny.
