I realise that I'm over 40 years too late, but I've recently discovered the stunning genius that was Jim Morrison. Any "Doors" fans out there? What do you all think of the circumstances surrounding his death? Was it a heroin overdose? Did Pam Courson kill him? Is he still alive?

Wasn't he just gorgeous?

He was good looking when he was young but he quickly lost his looks. Drugs killed him thats for sure. 'Noone gets out of here alive' is a good read if you want to know more.

He gained a lot of weight towards the end of his life. The Doors music is quite unique - sometimes I think you have to be "high" to fully appreciate it (not from personal experience).

I remember reading a book about Janis Joplin as a teenager. Jim was in it and came across as a nasty bit of work.

Everyone goes by the one photo taken of him and hung on thousands of walls. He only looked like that for a very short time before the drug bloated him.

He was gorgeous before he got all bloated, definitely. Could fill a pair of leather trousers admirably well..
I reckon it was an accidental overdose- sometimes folk just can't accept the most mundane, obvious explanation.
I second haphash's recommendation of Noone Here Gets Out Alive, great book though it did really put me off him as a person. Selfish bugger, so he was!

He looks quite striking here too...

He was absolutely beautiful. I have a huge framed portrait of him in my house.

Oi oi!! He was the voice of the youth in the 60's US. The ultimate bad boy of rock (at least the first).

Absolutely stunning looking in his prime - it wasn't just that iconic pic he looked amazing in either.

Pretty damn slinky in his 1967 mugshots here too. With those cheekbones and jawline he was pretty much made!

At his peak, he was an absolutely beautiful man, but not very pleasant.

Drink and drugs bloated him very quickly, and yes I think he died of a drug overdose.

Nice to know that The Rolling Stones didn't exist.

OP you should watch The Doors with Val Kilmner playing JM. I watched it aged 17 and became a bit obsessed with him - I convinced myself my cat was his re-incarnation - oh dear! To answer your question yes, I think it was an OD that killed him, he was a drug addict after all

It's definitely one of the better dramatized biopics. And Jim Morrison speaks to the rebellious teenager in all of us - especially the spiritually/open-minded. He'll always find new fans who are at that stage in their life, I think.

He was supposed to have died in a bar in the toilets after taking too much heroin and was brought back to his apartment and put in the bath to make look like he died in the bath..something like that I just read his biography and can't remember the exact rumours, his girlfriend was hiding something anyway but she died only a few years after him so nobody will ever know the truth.

He had put on weight before he died but he had lost some weight in paris and was looking a bit better.
He was bi-sexual which I didn't realise and he always wanted anal sex with his girlfriends, and he was supposed to have been a big lad, the poor girls!

He seemed very messed up in the head, I think the book hints at something happening to him when he was younger that made him a bit mad. He was another one of the celebs that died at the age of 27, I always find that freaky that so many singers died at that age, and most of their deaths are suspicious in some way, lots of stories about Hendrix too and that he was murdered.
You just never know, dead pop stars are worth a lot of money, just look how much money Nirvana made when Kurt (another one aged 27) died, it does make you think.
