I've been racking my brain for days and done so much googling but no luck.

I used to play a game when I was 11/12/13 - i was trying to think of it the other day when telling someone about it. But I have completely forgotten where I can find it or what it was called. This is what I remember though:

It was a cartoon game and the mainscreen was a bungalow/house with a garden. You could go into the house, if you went into the kitchen you could get recipes and make cakes with ingredients in the fridge - behind was a window where a bird would be.

There was also a garden which you had to look after - plant flowers/vegetables and look after them. I also think you could paint if you went into another room and there was a few activies in another room of the house.

It was a very simple game and pictures were big and clear and simple, with bright colours.

The 'menu' was on pieces of wood as well.

Anyone got any ideas? It's bugging me so much.

And how long ago was that? What platform did you play it on?

Only thing I can think of that it sounds vaguely similar to is one of the Animal Crossing games...

It was a PC game. I think it was one you downloaded.

And early 2000's. 01/02/03 kind of time.

In that case, was it something vaguely educational? Thinking again it sounds like one of the games my young (at the time) nephew and niece got on the cover of a PC mag aimed at children...

I don't think it was educational. But I couldn't say for sure.

I know there wasn't levels or anything in the game and there was only the one character. I remember the living room in the house was simple with a sofa and chair and an easel. There was a door at the back which led into the kitchen where you put ingredients in to a large mixing bowl from the fridge which was on the left.

To go to the garden you had to go outside and go left where there would be a late patch of soil made into squares which you would click to plant seeds (blue, white, yellow, green and pink I think) and try and get them to grow.

They did do a remake, think it's on their website. Granny's Garden is one of the old BBC games that the original company are still very strict about. Many other old games are freely available but 4Mation charge for the retro version:http://www.4mation.co.uk/retro/retrogranny.html
Updated version here: http://www.4mation.co.uk/cat/granny.html

Not sure if it's that, though...
