Personally I wouldn't do it, and didn't with the Beast when he was teeny. I guess when we are talking about siting a spot for a cat to poo there is no ideal place.

But in the kitchen seems a bit icky.

Not as icky as putting it on a carpet.

Litter box in the kitchen is way less icky than cats on work surfaces.

I keep mine in the bathroom. Tiled floor, extractor for any smells, and easy access to the toilet for poo.

ours is tucked away under the worktop in the kitchen behind the bin and between the washing machine and recycling box(using the space where the Fridge or dishwasher would be). We have no where else for it, the bathroom is not big enough and as we live in a flat the only bit we have downstairs is the entrance hall where all the shoes and coats are kept and the porch neither of which are big enough or practical.

It's in my toilet and the cats business goes where mine goes

Our cat goes in the kitchen overnight and her litter box is in there from 10pm til 7am
She can't go outside all night as the dog would bark and keep me and the neighbours awake

My cats wouldn't use a litter box in the kitchen. They wont poop where they eat.

I had one near the kitchen and it was only used for pee rarely. One of mine only goes in the bathroom box, the other sometimes uses the one behind my bedroom door.

Needs must of course, but I'm glad I don't have the cats tray in the kitchen.

problem is in a lot of houses there arent many options, do you want it in the front room, dinging room, or any of your bedrooms if not you are limited to kitchen or bathroom unless you are lucky enough to have a utility room or a conservatory or something

My friend has hers under the kitchen table. I didn't realise it was there when we were eating dinner

yuck!

When we had cats the litter box was usually kept in the hall cupboard with the door left slightly ajar, tool type of cupboard, lol not airing cupboard, either that a nook in the hallway

Mines in the bathroom, my kitchen is tiny and barely fits their food bowls and my stuff as it is

Mine is one of those covered litter trays, so you can't see anything as it is

Our cat's have their litter tray at the far end of my office at home and at the other end is their food. I asked the wife why she stuck it in my office and she said as I'm rarely there it made more sense than putting it in her study. They spend half of their time lounging around my office anyway so I suppose it made sense.

My cats litter trays are in the bathroom ( two in the bathroom they seem to have devised a system with one for poo and one for pee) and another in the lobby near the back door , all on tiles floors.

Their food is kept away in the kitchen and the water fountain the other side of the kitchen, apparently they dont like their drinking source to be too close to their food.

In the past - kitchen but horrible. Bathroom and not much better.

Now - his feeding area is on the breakfast bar and his covered litter try just outside in the conservatory. But oh boy - he is a very smelly cat....so very glad I can keep the door into the garden open most of the time.

In the downstairs loo now, but a few years ago in a different house it was in the kitchen. It's a covered tray, and it didn't really cause any issues- the cats were out most of the time. And it's not as if I was digging around in it in my bare hands and then preparing dinner....

Ours is in the Utility room. We have 4 cats and keep them in at night because of the Foxes around here.

In the utility room.

Never had utility room so it would be kept by the back door in the kitchen. Our cats only used it if they were inside but were used to going out a lot.

I had two cats - beautiful boys - never caused me any problems. If the litter was dirty it was changed.

Never had any illness through it - husband and 2 kids - it was just the best place and most convenient for it.

My cats litter tray is kept in the kitchen as there is no room to keep it anywhere else. It's one of them enclosed house things with a flappy door and filters so there are no smells if they have a dump.

Oh how sweet. I can visualise you sitting doing your business together having a little chat.

Cat's litter tray is in the hall but hidden in a corner under the stairs. It's one of the enclosed ones with a flap and is on a hard floor (though we do have newspaper under it as she seems to wipe her feet on that lol).

I wouldn't have a litter tray in the kitchen - no room in ours anyway.

Ours is in the kitchen by the patio doors. We have a fairly large kitchen.

We clean it daily using baby nappy sacks.
