David Goyer to direct The Count of Monte Cristo

It can't be any worse than the 2002 adaptation which butchered Dumas' original ending, besides the film's other problems. The 1934 film and the French mini series starring Gérard Depardieu still stand out as the most accomplished of all the adaptations and Robin Buss' English translation of the novel is the translation of choice. |

I like the carry on version, Terry scott pronouncing "count" without the "o", but in a mock italian accent so they got away with the rather old joke..lol.
Sorry to lower the tone of your thread....I am interested in this film...thanks for the pointer. |

None of the films seem to be too good do they? They almost make it like a kids story and it's always really different to the book which is pretty dark in places.
