TBH if they had just removed the "Film Four is Moving bit" it would be clearer, as would adding the work "message".

e.g.

"If you can see this message on channel 15 please retune your Freeview equipment to ensure you continue to receive Film Four"

Any better suggestions?
They are in a no win situation, if they had used your suggestion, some of the more stubborn users would have taken that as a good reason not to retune, simply because they think +1 channels are a "waste of space".

They could have made it more obvious that they actually were actually referring to the message being seen on channel 15 rather than Film 4 itself. The problem with this being that the short 2 line message could have ended up taking up most of the screen.

Alas none of the Freeview boxes I've had have been as graceful as the Sky ones for retunes (usually losing favourites and/or timers when retuning)
Indeed.

Early Freeview boxes such as the SetPal ones along with the Pace DTVA did automatic retunes. However, when Pace downloaded a software update to the DTVA to enable the smartcard slot, they removed the auto retune function, talk about backwards!

It goes into standby overnight. All I've ever had is a nag screen asking me to retune.
Poor show from Humax.

"Film 4+1 is coming to Channel 45. To get this new service and also keep Film 4 here on Channel 15 you need to retune"
Informative and avoids confusion

My Sony works flawlessly but Sky Sports 1 reappeared on one of my other TVs following the Film4+1 update.
My telly still thinks Al Jazeera 6-8 exists! (not sure why - it has been retuned loads, no other dead channels are present, and Al Jazeera 6-8 isn't on any other boxes either. Very strange.)

Can't get rid of Dave Ja Vu myself!

Dava Ja Vu is still on air in the early hours of the morning.

As for Al Jazeera 6-8 the old ON Digital boxes used to have both an "Add Channels" mode which simply added new channels and a "Store Channels" mode which wiped everything then added new channels - alas many boxes appear to have kept this logic.

Okay, thanks for explaining that

TV Guide is still listing Dave ja vu as being available on Freeview almost 21 hours a day which left me very confused. My EPG is showing the correct listings though.

Poor show from Humax.
The bumf says it's supposed to find new channels without manual retuning, but we never got Drama until I retuned the box on Thursday. Same thing with 4Seven as I recall.

No it wouldn't. Kev's suggestion of "If you can see this message on channel 15 please retune your Freeview equipment to ensure you continue to receive Film Four" would be all that is needed. The current message is very ambiguous and will needlessly confuse many.

I've got a Humax HDR-FOX T2 and that hasn't automatically added the new channels, or moved Film4, which is annoying.

Somebody at TV Guide must have got confused because they couldn't believe that the channel would be on for 3 hours in the middle of the night.

GRRR! I got the retune message so did just that, but as soon as I changed channel and went back the darn message reappeared and it won't go away. Is the message going to remain on until the nationwide rollout is complete or is there a way to get rid of it without retuning again?

Has a Film 4 appeared in the 800s? If so your box is doing what the ITV Digital ones termed "Add Channels" - i.e. adds new stuff in the correct place and chucks everything else at the end. What you need to do is either
A) Delete the current Film 4 and rescan
B) Do a "Store Channels" - often called "Factory Reset" or "New Install" or similar (i.e. forget everything your box knows and tune again).

What STB or TV are you trying to tune?

I'm with ntscuser on this. The onscreen message is very confusing. It suggests that Film4 is not going to be on Channel 15 any longer so retune. The assumption being that one will then find Film4 on, say, Channel 67. But when it still appears on Channel 15 I thought that the retune had gone wrong. On four bloody boxes I was pretty narked.
Another confused customer, I too thought the message meant it was moving. Asked two of my neighbours for their view and both of them thought the same as me. Seems the vast majority of us must be numpties with the odd clever MENSA chappy thrown in who knew what it meant all along.

Yes bad show all round from Humax (mines a year old) and never retunes automatically on Standby, which is poor due to the fact my 3 1/2 year old Pany HD LCD always gives the message to retune due to new channels found on waking from Standby!

Maybe we Humax owners should customize our boxes for improved performance?

I understood the on screen message by the words 'If you can see this message on CH 15 you need to retune", the TV tuner is now OK but the Humax hasn't changed of course.

So I retuned...but it made no difference. Film 4 is still on Channel 15

Got:

Film 4 - Channel 15

Film 4+1 - "Coming Soon"

Film 4 (627) - Showing the retune message
Hi guys.

The message on Film4 for well over a week says:

Film4 is moving if you can see this on channel 15 please retune your freeview equipment to ensure you continue to receive this channel
I haven't retuned anything it automatically goes to channel 791, if you select 15 it jumps to 791. Why on earth have they chosen 791 when all the decent channels are less than 100?

because the channel on the old MUX is going to make room for Film 4 +1 and Film 4 is now on a different MUX! If you dont retune you will loose Film 4!
You may need to do a first time install or factory reset if an ordinary retune doesnt work.

Or you can simply record the movie on Film 4 (or The Mentalist on Channel 5)
That presumes that you have a recorder, I suspect many people, older in particular, do not have a recorder.

Hi Kev thanks for the advice. I'm using just a standard built in freeview that came with my Philips TV a few years ago (I don't know the model number or exactly how many years ago I got it - may have been 4/5 years). Channel wise my TV doesn't go above 800, and I don't think I've ever ventured above the Food Network on 48.
I tried the complete reinstall rather than just a scan but the same problem reappeared: on initial reinstallation the message wasn't there (the channel was still on 15 though). I don't have the Film4+1 on 45 or the original on 791 as others have noted on here, just 15 and still with the retune message.
I'm just going to have to pretend the channel doesn't exist until the role out is complete then retune it to get it.

I have retuned and now have Film 4 on Channel 15 and Film 4 +1 on Channel 45.

So it's alright to delete Film 4, which also appears on Channel 791?

It will go on the 27th anyway to make space for Film 4+1 so just leave it and delete it then.

I think any intelligent person would also find that odd. Is it really worth the money for the EPG/ space when hardly anyone will watch it?

It bagsies a good (ish) EPG number in case they get a new slot in the future (as happened with Drama). The capacity is downtime of Drama and the service is 24/7ish on DSAT so it's not like there is much expenditure over and above the EPG slot.
