No one really knows... but this isn't the thread for discussing that. There are ongoing discussions here and here.

Indeed. This is the only reason Dave Ja Vu continued on Freeview last time it significantly reduced its hours - it kept LCN 25 for UKTV.

UKTV now has LCNs 12, 17, 19, 20 and 25 despite only having 4 multiplex streams. That's a healthy selection for sure.

Thanks for the tip but its working at the moment on channel 791 if it stops I will retune.

It will stop working towards the end of this month.

Surely if you are watching on Ch 791 you are also seeing the warning message superimposed on the picture?

It's supposed to work like this:
If your box works correctly, then, after a retune, you get the "new" Film4 at channel 15, without the caption.
You get the "old" version (with the caption) at channel 791.
That seems to be the behaviour of the vast majority of receivers...

If your box misbehaves, then you don't get the above behaviour after you have done a full retune.

A workaround for those still seeing the "old" version on 15 after a retune (i.e the one with the caption) might be to delete channel 15, and then try another retune. However, some boxes won't let you delete channels..
Workaround (2): Do a retune without the aerial lead in, so you get no channels at all. Put the aerial back in, and retune again.

Not on my TV or PVR. Are you sure it is a Freeview EPG and not picking up info for Freesat, etc.?

100% Sure.

Assuming it it not just your transmitter, i will try powering off and back on again to re-populate the EPG.

Since the films on Film4 don't start until 11:00, then +1 should have them from midday, so teleshopping before then doesn't come as a surprise.

I've got EPG listings from Thursday - tomorrow is blank.

So have I now, from 08:00 on the 22nd

I've already deleted Film4+1 from the EPG.

Wouldn't use it anyway seeing as it's on an Arqiva mux.

I, for one, am pleased that Film4+1 is coming to Freeview as it offers more live viewing options and choices and the possibility of more recording depending upon how advanced a home PVR is.

As of now, there'll be four Freeview options for films on an evening comprising Film4, Film4+1, MovieMix and True Entertainment and that's not at all bad for an entirely free service.

There are also occasional films on BBC1,2 & 4, ITV, Ch4, 5, 5* & 5USA, ITV2, 3 & 4, Dave, More4, E4, and Really, so even better value for money!

Despite what it says on the EPG the programme content still has a caption saying 'coming soon'. For some reason that I have forgotten, I seemed to think it wasn't due to start until the 27th.

We can complain all we want about the picture quality on Freeview (and I agree sometimes it's rotten), and I know films are repeated and repeated (and plenty of films haven't been on for years, or will never probably show) but agree on the whole the film options across all the channels are fine, and considering it's free - is actually pretty good.

I must agree and even thought I'd have preferred TCM (for the westerns if nothing else) it will be handy if we sit down late to eat then at least we can catch up with the film an hour later rather than miss it.

And those without a PVR will have a little flexibilty when watching another channel as well as sometimes the time clashes at 9 pm can be a real pain if there isn't a plus one for the channel you are watching.

Would be good to see TCM on Freeview (but don't see it happening) - agree too that the +1 gives more flexibility (esp. at that time).

"Occasional"? I've known the schedule to be packed with them, especially at weekends and bank holidays. And since Big Brother ended Channel 5 doesn't have much else to show!

I don't regard it as "value for money" myself, just a very cheap way of filling the schedule.

"value for money" was my attempt at humour - it's FREEview!

I tend to avoid the Arqiva and SDN mux channels as much as possible due to their abysmal picture quality, so will never watch films on them. Regardless of them being free, I still expect certain standards of quality and Com muxes don't deliver I'm afraid.

However, I've started recording some stuff on Film4 again since it moved to D3&4.

Picture quality is to a degree subjective. Having been brought up on 405 lines, then 625 line analogue when the early digital stuff appeared, it was even better. Maybe your screen is too large, or you are simply viewing too close to it, both will affect your perception of quality.

That appears to now say "No Information", or from Monday, "Starts August 27th"
