Is 'edge munching' a proper video term?
Today I was trying to transfer someones 1982 VHS video to a DVD but it has edge munching on the control track from a worn pinch roller. I told them their tape was edge munched so no tranfer possible and they laughed at the term.
I maintain that it is a proper video term but I can't see any reference to it. Is it a correct term or is there an accepted term in common parlance? Thanks |

Chewed tape edge is what I'd probably call it.

I have to say that this sort of term would normally be a discussion over at general disussion forums and would be referring to something of a much filthier nature I suspect

Thanks - yes a regional term I suspect. I'm midlands too.
I don't think anyone has ever done a survey on regional electronics slang - I bet there are some right good ones. I use 'vorice' too to mean a form of mechanical distortion caused by a speaker fault. |
