It might be OK, but I can't help being reminded of "Private Benjamin" but that was thirty-three years ago.

To be fair, winning soap awards isn't really "award winning" wins to be proud of

She was fantastic in Switch though, axed after one series proves that. Hated her in Enders (whingy brat Stacey) and just as bad in all her dire roles since.

This is already being ripped apart by the critics. New Foyles War on the other side, thank gawd!

I will watch, but isn't Lacey a little small to be on the front line in the Army. I assume she is front line as she is training with guns ??

It took a bit of finding, due to lack of prominence on-line but here's an example of an "our girl" situation, which I found quite moving.

I doubt the BBC's effort could match this.

Two of the EastEnders episodes based around Stacey won BAFTAs though. Lacey played a major part in those wins and that is more than enough to be proud of.

Of course, but she'll "overcome bullying and prejudice, ultimately gaining the respect of the whole platoon."
Or was that just in "Private Benjamin?"

Yes indeed. Although the trailer was very short, so maybe hard to tell, I'm not feeling enthusiastic. I'll be watching FW but will record 'Our Girl'; if it doesn't grab me in the first 15 minutes then nothing lost.

Now I feel old.

Actually I think LT is a really good actress, liked her in most of the things I've seen her in (haven't watched Eastenders for years mind you, far too doooooomy!).

I think points should be awarded to any poster who can give any examples of similarities in attitudes, incidents etc., between this and WPC56.

Well yeah. Other than it being completely and utterly dissimilar in every way apart from "girl joins army"

Your logic does not resemble our Earth logic. Which planet are you from?

1. Soaps are the most-watched shows in the UK; possibly the world. So yes, winning an award for being in one is something to be proud of.

2. How is a show being axed after one series "prove" that she was "fantastic" in it?

It took a bit of finding, due to lack of prominence on-line but here's an example of an "our girlw" situation, which I found quite moving.

I doubt the BBC's effort could match this.

Of course you do; but not for any good reason.

Of course, but she'll "overcome bullying and prejudice, ultimately gaining the respect of the whole platoon."

So when's your latest script going to make it to TV then? It's very easy to criticise. Well it must be seeing as you seem to do it so much

And it actually seems to be more about the journey than the destination.

Yeah, I think "Girl Joins Army" might be the clue, such an original premise, I mean there's been so many of such programmes haven't there, that you couldn't possibly be reminded of Private Benjamin?

Your rolling eyes seem to be worse than ever were Marty Feldman's, no wonder you're often confused. But your posts are so amusing, such an "angry young man" so devoid of any real humour. Keep 'em up.

Give my love to the patients who listen to your hospital radio show, my best to both of them.

REMINDER: Our Girl airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC One HD

I think it'll be a great drama to watch, and here's hoping it'll connect to especially younger viewers and give them a sense of hope and a 'can do' attitude. Also this is Lacey Turner's first big prime time TV show since she quit EastEnders 2 and half years ago, I have high hopes for her.

I am having my regular Sunday evening session on Digital Spy early this evening, so that I can watch Lacey in My Girl. I liked her on Daybreak talking about it on Friday.

Watching the Trailer the other day....I thought it looked more like a Drama for BBC3.....which isn't a bad thing.

Looking forward to this it looks good and I like Lacey, I agree with the above post it does look like a BBC3 drama, but I watch more on that than I do on BBC1 and often wonder why they dont show them on 1.
