Long haired dogs in snow?

Anybody have any advice for dealing with a long haired dog in deep snow?

My spaniel's only a little dog and the current snow is actually so deep that she vanishes all the way into it and, what's worse, the snow sticks to her fur in huge clumps so she ends up looking like a huge snowball (which looks rather cute but seems to cause her distress).

I did consider buying a dog-coat for her to wear but she's really stubborn and doesn't like them and, besides, I don't think it'd really help cos it wouldn't stop the snow clumping to her legs and around her backside.

I've always had Labradors and they don't have any problems with snow and this is the first really bad snow we've had since we inherited the spaniel.

Our tibetan terrier used to get huge clumps of snow in his coat - particularly around his feet. no tips to prevent im afraid but just make sure you melt and dry the clumps when she comes indoors.

All over dog coat (including trousers), boots and if the ears are affected a snood.

This happened to ours only yesterday. He got so many snowballs clinging to his coat, then he kept trying to rub them off but that just added more to them. I remove them with a wide tooth metal comb or melt them off with the hairdryer if he is very wet and cold. He does have a coat but he hates it.

I have a Tibetan Terrier as well and his paws and legs seem to collate large snowballs in the snow. It's imperative that these are melted off as soon as you get indoors as they can get frostbite etc. He usually helps by licking them which is good.
