A tree branch came down today and brought 5 houses outside phone lines with it.

All house now have no phone or no broadband, I rang bt and they said they would get an engineer to call on the 2nd April , so no phone or broadband till then.

Do you think that is a reasonable time and is there any way or anyone I can contact to speed this up. I imagined that as it was affecting quite a few customers this would be repaired quicker

Any help would be great

George

April 2nd!!!! Bloody hell, when the phone line was damaged in this area, BT got someone out to repair it within two days, and it only affected one house!

Under BT Terms & conditions
To repair a service failure on the 3rd week day after the day you report a fault not including public & bank holidays
Go back to BT & see what they say

I have looked online under terms and conditions but cannot see anywhere about " within 3 days". Could you tell me were I can find this.

Well when you look up and down the country at the weather, and see thousands without power, then this is also going to be the same for BT, so i would expect things to take longer than normal to repair About 12,500 properties in Northern Ireland, up to 10,000 in Scotland and 500 in Wales are still without power, and more than 200 in west Cumbria in England.

Thanks for all your replies and like some of you have said, there are loads of people with no phone connections due to the snow and even some without power.

I guess when you have two kids, all moaning they can t talk to their mates via Xbox live, can t use sky as there is snow on the dish...it's not really a good weekend .....and guess who is getting moaned at.

My main worry is they tell me they are due to call on the 2nd of April, it took three appointments to get open reach to turn up and install my infinity so I am not confident that the problem will be solved, even if they turn up on the day

I am guessing if the engineer does turn up, say or right I will need someone to go up the pole, connect the phones lines and of course this is a bigger job than just the one engineer and they will have to reschedule .....and then another delay in getting my phone connected
