I wonder if anyone else has noticed that, over time, the amount of disk space shown remaining at the top of the Library screen diverges more and more from that shown if you look under Menu > Setup > Help. This was made apparent to me the hard way the other day when I was watching live TV and the sound and picture froze, though the box itself would still respond to commands. It seems that I had so little disk space remaining that the recording of the last 30 minutes (or whatever it is) to allow pausing and rewinding of live TV had used up the last of it. The Library screen was showing just over 20% of free space, but looking under Help showed only2%. I deleted a few recordings to free up more space, and all was well.

I probably need to be more rigorous in future about deleting saved programmes that I hope to get around to watching one day. I'm guessing that the discrepancy arises because of an increasing amount of "lost" space over time, caused perhaps by things such as a power failure when you're in the middle of recording something, and that the Help screen allows for that while the Library screen doesn't. I'd guess that the only way of removing the discrepancy would be to reformat the disk, but I'm naturally reluctant to do that as I don't want to lose all my recordings,

On mine the two entries are identical (26%). The display error is probably caused by corruption so w/o a reformat you may start to experience recording problems.

As I'd said, I thought that a reformat was likely to be the only solution. However unless/until I start to suffer major problems I don't want to do that, as it would mean losing all my saved recordings.
