vaslav's thoughts on Cora Cross and Ann Mitchell (Merged)
Ann Mitchell has not been on screen much recently as Cora as she has been shooting a film called 'Dragonfly'...

We have not seen a great deal of Cora recently. Cora does not seem to be as popular as she was when she arrived. I am still a big Cora fan but am frustrated with the lack of scenes between her and daughter Ava..

My main gripe with Cora is that she was pushed in the matriarchal role far too quickly, characters such as Pat and Peggy worked because we had seen them develop into the role over a number of years. However, with Cora, she arrived and she was soon spouting her hypocritical wisdom.
Ava and Cora, while at first promising, has now become a dud story. One minute Ava wants nothing to do with Cora, the next they are sharing cups of tea in the cafe. And for someone who wanted little to do with her birth mother, Ava moved onto the same Square yet showed annoyance when she ran into Cora. Excellent logic, Ava. |

BK said at the time of casting Ann Mitchell as Cora that she would be the natural successor to Peggy.

Ann mitchell is too old and frail to be a serious contender to replace peggy or be considered a legend.Every time she utters a word she sounds like shes about to croak. There is really no point in investing in the character

Spoiler
I'm glad they're revisiting the Cora/Patrick friendship as well. |

Too old? Don't make me laugh.
Ann is 74 and has been an Actress since 1958. Like most Actors on the show she deserves better writing. |

I was excited to hear Ann Mitchell was joining EastEnders but I think Cora is an old hypocrite.

I love Cora although of late I think her character has softened a little too much compared to her initial introduction.

I thought Ann Mitchell had gone part-time and would only be appearing as a recurring character now? I'm sure it was announced a couple of weeks ago.
![]() I hope it's not true, Cora was one of my favourite characters last year and although I've gone off her a bit in 2013 she's still got a lot of potential and it'd be a shame to waste that.

Ann was in two films earlier this year and she has pretty much been in EastEnders without a proper break so she is probably enjoying a break.
