is there such a thing as a definitive prog rock song? most prog is conceptual and needs the entire length of an album, or at least one side (in vinyl terms).
but anyway I'd go for Comfortably Numb, it can be listened to on its own and still makes sense, also its a beautiful song with outstanding guitar work. |

Fascinating - I didnt realise that all the music I listened to in my youth had been so studied - Supertramp, Pink Floyd etc.
Supertramp? a bizzare choice - not what I would have thought of as Rock, but there you go. Why no Free, Led Zeppelin?? ark |

Ah - Battle of Evermore - L Z
And the complete B side (not on CD) of most Pink Floyd albums, especially Echoes from, Meddle In the Land or Grey and Pink is probably my favourite album with ballands on it , but each is a single in its own right. |

Totally agree. I especially like misunderstood from the Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance. I also have Awake, Image And Words, Live At Budokan, Live Scenes From New York, Scenes From A Memory and Train Of Thought. All excellent albums and all on my iPod. |

Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun - Pink Floyd
Some of Mars Volta's stuff is damn good as well. Televators is a superb song. Going to see them live in March. Can't wait!
