Whats the problem with O2?

Joined them last week and certainly not impressed so far. Just spent 30 mins (national rate number - the freephone one on the website is no longer available) on the phone trying to get set up for MMS and GPRS, which I thought was normally done at connection or shortly afterwards. Got passed round to 3 different people. The last operator said she would set me up for it and after hanging on the other end of the line for a considerable time, she advised that the systems were slow and the features would be available in 24-48hrs. Not very good at all!

Have just given 30 days notice to T-Mobile after 4yrs with them cos I thought I was getting a better deal. Beginning to wish I hadnt bothered!

Thats typical O2 for you. Move to Orange best network and best customer service around!

Orange sorted out the MMS and GPRS promptly and I was away in minutes. On o2, forget it! Still waiting seven months down the line!

We used to be with o2.... its not the staff who answer the phone's fault its the management's fault... they suck! I had a complaint after 6 months they still couldn't get our name and address right, I finally got through to a manager who said tuff cheese basicly and didn't want to know.... I complained some more, nothing... I went to offcom who agreed the way we had been treated wasn't very well, they passed the complaint over to a high level staff who contated me and got it sorted... they then proceeded to cock it all up! we left exactly after one year back to orange... they have the best customer service I have ever used! (it used to be bad though - then they went on watchdog and things soon changed)

I recently had a problem with my text message/media message/wap bundle from my O2 Online PAYG and dealt with them via e-mail. Involved sending three e-mails all of which were answered within 24 hours, with the last one two hours. Now have properly set up 200 texts, 25 Media Messages & 1MB WAP. Brilliant!

Every network has its faults, maybe I've just been lucky with O2 compared to everyone else?

Today I also took the leap away from o2, opting instead for Virgin Mobile. I too have had my fair share of bad service from them, both in stores and over the phone.

In my opinion they have the worst procedure for dealing with complaints that I have ever come across. (That's if there even is a procedure). You have to pay to speak to them about something that is their fault. They tell you they'll phone you back...they don't.

I ended up having to get trading standards involved with my most recent complaint, and they were able to sort it out for me.

My mum has been with Virgin Mobile for about 2 years now and anytime I have had to phone them for anything on her behalf they have always been friendly, quick and very helpful.

It's been building up for some time, and I'm glad I finally made the move.

Can somebody please tell me if I can get out of this contract? I joined O2 on 28/12/04. The general feeling I get from various threads, as well as the replies on this one is that they are pretty crap!

HELP!!

The truth is, whichever network you go to you will have problems at some stage. You only have to look on this forum to see all the networks getting a slating. The problem is down to customer service, I have had excellent service from O2, Vodafone, Virgin and Orange. I have also had the most appaling service from all four at various times. The only network who have been consistently bad is 3. THose are my experiences.

Well, when I had a problem with O2 in the summer I wrote them a very horrible letter and they offered me the chance to terminate my contract early and walk free with no charges. Their customer support were excellent at dealing with my problem and so I decided to stay and haven't had another problem since. The problem wasn't even their fault in the first place and was that of the people that fix the Nokia phones.

However, you are still within the 14 day cancellation period, laney, so if you want to cancel, you can in the next few days.

Called CS again the next day, as still had no GPRS or MMS connection. Pressed the complaint option on the phone, spoke to the operator and was set up within 2 hours.

Will be prepared to now give O2 the benefit of the doubt, however would have no qualms in cancelling the contract next year if there were further problems.

Still think it sucks having to pay for calls to CS but hopefully I wont have to call them too often.
