Hi I have a tablet that can play hd content but when I play use the iplayer and itv player all it seems to do is playback in SD and not HD, I can't see any options to select HD either so is it posible to play HD on demand on my Tablet?

ITV player does not have any HD content.
BBC iPlayer has HD content but you need to specifically choose it. you can browse the channels and pick out the HD content.

There are also still a lot of tablets that ITV player is not compatible with.

nothing a good sideload won't fix, I think

The video streaming that seems to have the best quality on my Nexus 7 is Netflix. Looks excellent.

Can you now download on it?

Maybe there's other fixes included? To be honest the BBC iPlayer is a sham compared to iOS' version. Impartiality...my arse.

They are better than sky. At least they put an app out even if its shoddy. Sky don't even bother.

True but the BBC is publicly funded (myself and you included pay), it's vastly bigger than Sky as well. Again, I'll stress that it has no problems getting a good app out for iOS (which had advanced functions like download to play later) but there's been few worthwhile updates to the Android version.

No not through a mobile browser. You need to download software even if you are using it on a pc.

As far as I'm aware, BBC iPlayer does not offer HD content on mobile or tablet, even on the iPhone and iPad. It offers 'higher quality' downloads but not HD.

change log:

What's in this version:
Included in this release:
· We’ve dramatically improved video quality on the Nexus 7.
· Our previous release caused some devices to crash…good news, we've fixed this!
· As always we keep working through those nusiance bugs, this release contains numerous fixes.
We plan to up the video quality further on more devices very soon and the team continue to work hard on a mobile downloads feature.
We always welcome feedback so tweet away! - @bbciplayer
