Sounds pretty cool

Five because the RetroN 5 will support NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Famicom and Game Boy Advanced cartridges, though it's also kind of seven because Game Boy Color and original Game Boy games will be good to go, too. Hyperkin is looking at a July release and a price under $100, which will include two universal bluetooth controllers. The console will also have two controller ports for each system. NES and Famicom use the same ports, and the SNES controllers will double for Game Boy games. RetroN5 will also have HDMI connectivity and upscale games to 720p.

Off the top of my head the Famicon was just the Japanese version of the NES so... shouldn't this be Retron4? OK, it might play the import carts so make it Retron4.5

But these types of systems have been available on import for ages though I'm not sure which, if any, do HD upscaling.

I suppose if they could get PS1 and N64 functionality in it as well it would give it an edge over the other consoles that do the same thing.

It is a cool concept but these clone systems always feature dodgy emulation. If you really care about the games then these machines are little more than a collectors item and novelty.

The Famicom is the Japanese NES BUT the cartridges are physically different (NES has more pins). So it is a 5.
It will all be down to the quality of the emulation software. It's usually not very good.
I still have and use my NES, SNES and Megadrive (32x and megacd too)
But I like the idea of one box with HDMI, so will be looking out for this.

Still have my SNES. Sold my megadrive with 20 cartridges which I regret.
The only retro console id like is a universal PS1. As I have 3 Japanese Parodius discs that I have to jam a spring in my ps1 to get them working. Bit of an hassle.

Interesting might have to pick one of these up especially as it plays both SNES and Megadrive.

I'm looking forward to this more than ps4 or xbox one, tbh I'm not too interested in next gen I've just bought an original xbox and a dreamcast and feel they are much more fun

Hmm i would need a Retron 5 spec breakdown before id commit to buying it My ole xbox handles my emulation needs mostly
just falls a little short on N64 PS1 Saturn emulation plus it cant handle alot of newer 3D arcade games
if the Retron can do all of the above i'd consider it as an option
