Why is there a lack of pork options?

They did in the late 90's when I was really young. The founders of McDonalds hated Hot Dogs and vowed never to serve hot dogs they must of been turning in their graves.

With Halal becoming a big thing now most places are phasing out pork products.

Despite rising demand for halal, there's still lots of appetite for pork products though. I mean, is it because they don't want halal meat where pork has been prepared? So then McDonalds will end their bacon and egg mcmuffins

Actually Mcdonalds stance these days is that most restaurants have two grills so for the daytime menu one is used for Beef the other Chicken, the official policy being that something such as the mcrib won't make a return due to worries about cross contamination. If you look on their make up your own mind site that is the answer given there and also the same reason that they will never serve the breakfast menu all day - http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/wh...fast-menu.html & http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/wh...e-burgers.html
And for the breakfast menu being served all day being a no no as I mentioned above - http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/wh...ger-hours.html

The cross contamination issue is of interest - think of the little chef and they had (or those that remain) one griddle to cook all meat items on the menu same as many other places in the country or come to that Burger Vans.

So thats the real reason nothing to do with Halal at all.

Excuse my ignorance, but presuming they don't serve Halal meat anyway (which most don't) then does it matter?

Muslims and other religions that restricting them from eating pork would not eat there if there is pork being prepared next to their food.

But if they don't serve halal meat they can't eat there anyway can they? Unless you're saying McDonalds are halal these days.
