Its heated, up to 79 degrees, seems to be the right temperature

Its fins seemed OK, I treated it for fin rot, with salt and it recovered well from that.
It was inactive for quite a while, a good 3 weeks, no signs of illness at all. I have lost a couple of zebra danios at the same time as the betta died. I do partial water changes every 2 weeks and it was the last time I did that that they croaked.
I wonder if it had something to do with fluctuating PH.
I'm at a loss
